Summary: Great Book
Review: This is probably the Most comprehensive fiqh(Islamic Law) in the English Language. It cover the very basics of islam as well as other aspects of Islam, like purification of the soul, getting closer to God (Allah). It meat of the book of outer fiqh, but it also deals with inner fiqh (spirituality)..

So I highly Highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed. In you are look for a good classical text book in Islamic Law.

Summary: Excellent index--The translation is superb !
Review: This work combines in one volume Shaafi'ee jurisprudence (without its evidences), an introduction into the Ash'ari tenets of faith and Sufism. ...In summary, the book deceptively claims to represent classical orthodox Islam - yet if one returns to the earliest texts and works of Ahlus-sunnah in the first 2/300 yrs of Islam - they are worlds apart from what Keller presents to English speaking Muslims. This is truly unfortunate. Certain personalities are glorified and one is left with the impression that they are deeply knowledgeable and pious men - not really capable of error or such large mistakes. Islam is the religion taught by Muhammad bin Abdullah (pbuh) to those who were with him-it is this religion which a Muslim seeks to adhere to. However, this religion is different in many respects to what is/was taught by some of these men Keller speaks so highly of - no matter how learned or pious they were. The companions of the Messenger of Allah were more pious and more knowledgeable and they are our litmus test.

It is ironic that that the very man this book claims to represent, Imam Shaafi'ee, taught against a great deal of what Keller encourages.

To finish: this book mixes truth with falsehood - and this, of course, creates the most fertile ground for the Devil's deception! For one not well established with Islam as taught by the earliest generations of Muslims this book really should be avoided.
Regards
