Rating: Summary: Still Skeptical....But worth you money Review: This book has increased by reading speed dramatically(270-1000 words per minute)...But I still read around the 270wpm range since I am not quite confident that I will be able to retain the information that I am constantly given but still believe that I have indeed improved in comprehension with the underline motions that the book provides. I believe this is something you MUST take a class for to excel to 3,000wpm. With practice I believe that anyone can read 2,000+wpm and make GREAT notes effortlessly with the Slash-recall methods, which the book explains fully. All in all this is worth your money, but you might have to read up more on Speed-reading to become comfortable with applying the skills in everyday reading.
Rating: Summary: Infomercial Review: This book reads like an infomercial. There is very limited practical advice, but plenty of long descriptive stories about people who have benefited from the live course taught using the method described in the book. General principles are stated--such as Don't Pronounce Words, but we are not really told how to go from sounding words to simply seeing them.
Rating: Summary: A good start; somewhat helpful; you'll need more Review: This is a very short, easy book that will get you started in reading faster. I am well educated but an exceedingly slow reader (195 wpm). After I read this book I was reading much, much faster. But, the book is somewhat deceiving. It requests the reader to adopt its methods while reading the book, but the later chapters become very repetitive and include little in the way of challenging vocabulary. So, the book unfairly inflates your speed increase.I later purchased Kump's Breakthrough Rapid Reading which is more thorough, includes drills and assignments for reading material other than the text provided. I would recommend Kump's book as a follow-on.
Rating: Summary: An effective speed reading course for the persistent Review: This still has to be one of the best offerings available on this subject. For the persistently faithful this is the book I would recommend, it has all the exercises in step by step form to set you firmly on your way to accomplishing an effectively fast rate of reading with a good level of comprehension. I would definitely recommend this book to parents of highschoolers or students of any age as this book also outlines some very essential and excellent methods of note taking to help you prepare for and ace exams. I've managed to increase my own reading speed from 630 wpm to over 1400wpm in only the first 4weeks of trying out this system, but and I stress the following, in order to succeed with speed reading you must maintain a high degree of persistence in doing the given exercises for at least 1 month, don't question the reasons for or effectiveness of the exercises until you've gone through all the methods given in the book faithfully - if you don't feel you have the determination or persistence to reach your ultimate goal then like all else you'll try - it probably won't work for you. However this method really does work! so what are you waiting for....buy it now!
