Summary: not for NET TEST reading comprehension
Review: If you need a review for LPN test or just a review on Math and Science this is a good book. IF you are looking for NET TEST reading comprehension this book does not compare. SAVE YOUR MONEY. I reccommend the NET TEST STUDY GUIDE. It contains two actual practice tests for Reading Comprehension and Mathmatics. They are JUST like the test.

Summary: Very overwhelming
Review: The chemistry, bio, and physio/anat questions in this book are overwhelmingly difficult for the novice, and it doesn't give any good advice about materials you can use to improve your knowledge in these areas beyond very offhand advice. I'm going to be taking one of the specific tests this book is supposed to cover. It doesn't actually give any information as to the level of difficulty on the science and math questions on the different examinations, and I strenuously disagree that the science questions in the book cover "elementary" knowledge. My husband has a degree in theoretical physics and knows a lot about organic chemistry and he had a hard time answering some of those questions. I think it's O.T.T. and not very helpful. The Barron's book is not NEARLY as difficult as the Arco guide and it makes me wonder why there is such a huge difference between the two...and which is actually more indicative of the PSB-RN aptitude test, for which there is no specific study guide?

Sometimes I think these people just want to make a quick buck off us stressed-out prospective students.

Summary: Can be overwhelming
Review: When I purchased this book, I didn't have any reviews to go from as this is the "new" edition. I recently took the nursing exam and the test wasn't nearly as in depth as this book. I feel like I wasted a lot of time learning anatomy and physiology that wasn't even needed for the test. There were a lot of practice questions throughout the book but I found it difficult to study from those. I have been out of college for almost 10 years so the book was helpful to brush up on some of those math and science concepts that were forgotten. I would recommend purchasing Barron's "How to Prepare for the Nursing School Entrance Exams". It was easier to follow and stuck to the basic concepts of the test subjects.
