Summary: A patient's point of view
Review: I'm not a doctor, but I'm often a patient. This book has shown me how to communicate better with my doctor. In fact, I think it has excellent and helpful information for everyone, as we all try to make others understand our desires and comply with them.

Summary: Outstanding Resource
Review: It's worth buying this book just to get the chapter on body language alone!

Very helpful for doctors and for that matter, for anyone in any profession. A well written book full of great tips!

Summary: Every doctor should read this book !
Review: Many doctors take their communication skills for granted, but the sad fact remains that most of us do not do a good job talking to our patients. Learning how to improve your bedside manner is extremely difficult to do, but this book shows you how you can do so. Reading this book is likely to be one of the best investments of your time you can make - and it's full of practically useful stuff you can implement immediately !

Summary: A Must for All Members of the Medical Profession
Review: This book is a first. It provides an intellegent, thorough insight on how best to communicate with patients. Most impressive to me was the fact that it was loaded with information, and yet was a very easy read. The use of actual stories brought the message to life, and demonstrated how well the authors knew the practical value of communication skills. I will be interested to see other professions start using this book.

Summary: JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR SHOULD ORDER-FOR HIMSELF!
Review: THIS BOOK IS FABULOUS, A MUST READ FOR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AND PERSONNEL. DESMOND UNDERSTANDS PATIENTS' NEEDS AND FEARS ONLY TOO WELL AND PASSES THE INFORMATION ON CLEARLY AND CONCISELY. I RECOMMEND IT FOR PROSPECTIVE PATIENTS (MOST OF US) SO THEY WILL BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE PROBLEMS AND MISCOMMUNICATION. BRAVO TO THE AUTHORS!

Summary: COMMUNICATION SKILLS, SIMPLE AND RIGHT TO THE POINT
Review: This book is terrific. It zeros in on so many of the problems caused by a lack of understanding the needs for proper communication when dealing with people involved in a usually stressful situation. It presents these problems in a simple and direct manner and then shows in common sense language how to solve them. I majored in communication in college and was involved in the health care industry for over 30 years. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone involved in that industry or in a position where dealing with people is a priority.

Summary: A book for every doctor
Review: This is a must-have book for every physician and should be kept on his/her desk as a constant reminder that the doctor is in charge of the communication between doctor and patient and that communication is the key to understanding the problem, creating the correct resolution and engaging the patient in the solution. Easy to read and enjoyable.

Summary: A Must Read for Anyone involved in the Field of Healthcare
Review: Unquestionably the best book written for those dealing with consumers of healthcare that I have had the pleasure to read. It is complete, practical, and essential for all healthcare personnel. Especially important for physicians. Having represented several large hospitals and physicians, I can honestly say that if the recommendations contained in this book were followed, there would be far fewer lawsuits....Barbara Wrenn, Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney
