Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Certainly not a book for beginners Review: There are a lot of hard math and comparisons among different OCR methods, but there is almost nothing about software implementation and algorithms. For example, the book does not talk about how to apply the integration formulas to integrate over the discrete image pixels.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Good Book, Poor English Review: This book is better than it's reviews. If you're a college student, or professor interested in OCR, this book is just for you. It is, however, a book aimed at people who have degrees in computer science, or are studying to get their degrees. So don't approach it thinking it's a novel; it's a technical book! It presents a great overview of the most common approaches to OCR.The only real flaw in it, and the reason why I only give it three stars, is that it was written by three people who aren't native english speakers. As long as you're fluent in the language of mathematics, that's not a big deal. If, however, your linear algebra knowledge isn't up to par, you may find some of the explanations rather cryptic.
