Summary: A better handbook than a textbook
Review: This book is well written and quite complete. That said, I was disappointed in that many key results described in the book are given without derivation, making this book more appropriate for someone who is already familiar with the subject matter. This is somewhat mitigated by the fact that the author provides a very complete set of references (the bibliography alone is 47 pages long). If one is willing to look up the original references for topics of particular interest, this book can serve as an excellent guidebook. If not for the references, which I have found to be quite useful, this book would rate only 3 stars.
