Summary: Graaskamp on Real Estate
Review: James A. Graaskamp was the quintessential thinker, renowned chairman of the University of Wisconsin's widely celebrated Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics ("The Program") and the foremost academic real estate leader of the past 25 years. Graaskamp on Real Estate, the first complete collection of academic treatises, unpublished materials, and class notes, was published by the Urban Land Institute as a tribute to "The Chief" shortly after his death in 1988. This "Landmark" should not be missed by anyone who aspires to understand real estate investment, profit centers and competitive advantage (i.e. "monopoly position"). All of Graaskamp's essential cast of characters are in this anthology...the risk manager ("pleasure, pain, and bailout"), the public policy problem solver (i.e. "tri-partite agreement creates cash solvency) and, of course, the fabled entrepreneurial genius. For Graaskamp's students and others who seek competitive advantage and need to stay on top of their game, this is simply the best book in its class.
