Summary: "Making Culture Pay" has a real PAYOFF!!!!
Review: Corporate CULTURE is so relevant in today's business climate. Companies have often identified one of their major objectives to be: "Attract, retain and motivate top talent". The culture of a company or an organization can have a profound effect on meeting that objective.
I got excited as I read "Making Culture Pay" because it went beyond philosophy and theory to provide a practical approach to culture. I found Jerry Haney's "6 Critical Elements of a High Performance Workplace Culture" an excellent foundation for the book. The author takes these 6 elements and dedicates a chapter to each so the reader can both understand and apply the information provided. I also appreciated the final chapter in the book providing summary key points made throughout the book. The points are offered in a question-and-answer format that is very helpful.
Overall, I found Jerry Haney's book to be very relevant, informative and practical. I would highly recommend "Making Culture Pay" to anyone, no matter at what level you are in your organization.

Summary: Making Culture Pay
Review: I've just had the pleasure to finish reading "Making Culture Pay". It is a book that is filled with excellent insight into the "How To's" toward developing and building an outstanding corporate culture. Jerry Haney has developed a culture model that if implemented properly will insure cultural excellence.

The six critical elements of organizational culture are well outlined, explained and reviewed in a manner that reflects the "nuts and bolts" of good management principles toward building a great culture. As Haney states "great organizational cultures exist because they consistently produce results, they attract, motivate and retain asociates and they routinely adapt to change. I agree with his assessment wholeheartedly especially in todays business environment the ability to accomplish these three things is paramount for successful cultural development.

"Making Culture Pay" is easy reading and quite frankly every manager regardless of level and industry should read this book as it will provide them with a road map towards gaining a competitive advantage----Great cultures drive the success of Great companies!!

In our present business state, "Making Culture Pay" is an excellent guide towards building a great culture during these turbuent times. In my opinion, the Visionomics process will pay big dividends for all organizations. Excellent reading with "actionable"information!!

Summary: Making Culture Pay
Review: In Jerry Haney's boo, Making Culture Pay, he first lays the ground work of why culture impacts the bottom line so strongly. What makes this book stand out from others is that Jerry not only gives you theory, he gives you the practical steps to creating a positive culture in your organization. Jerry gets rid of the excuses that employees often give - - that they do not have the power to positively impact the culture of their organization. He shows how everyone has the ability to make a difference in their own section of the company. All employees can help to create a positive culture in their subgroups thereby opening the door to productivity and job satisfaction for the people they interact with. Jerry also draws the parallel that happy employees make happy customers.

This book is an easy read. The rubik's cube model that Jerry uses to demonstrate the components of a great culture is an easy one remember and a clear one to understand. This book is a must for eveyone who wants to make a difference in their organization!

Summary: Making Culture Pay by Jerry Haney
Review: There have probably been thousands of books written about corporate culture in the last thirty years. Those that make it to the best seller lists have often been written by well known culture gurus, and many of these books are sequels or follow-ons.

Making Culture Pay is the first book written by Jerry Haney. I only know that because I worked for him for many years in the 70's and 80's. What sets this book apart for me is how the author provides nuts and bolts procedures for establishing the right atmosphere for cultural development, and then gives step-by-step instructions for implementing cultural change.

If anything is missing from this book, it may be the importance of the right leadership in accomplishing cultural change. While the author provides a terrific blueprint for successful establishment of cultural change, and packs in lots of examples and stories from his long experience, I think he understates the importance of having the right leader to inspire employees to want to change, to embrace change and to profit from it.

It's a quick read, well-organized, and builds in a logical sequence, folowing all the steps necessary to implement real change in any organization, regardless of size. I recommend it to executives in organizations from ten to ten thousand employees. I guarantee you will get something from it that you can use to improve your organization's culture.
