Rating: Summary: Finally, The Right Answers. Review: As someone who has struggled to diagnose the reasons for communication breakdowns, I finally found practical solutions in this book. Essentially, what I realized is that for all of my education, I knew nothing about communicating. Specifically, I learned that words are not factual or literal, but symbolic... I was often trapped by trying to logically respond rather than hearing the underlying emotional message. This book taught me how to turn this around and get to the heart of the issue, and saves me ALOT of time. Having a practical nature, I would rather enjoy the benefits of making my point than being "right". I strongly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Say it Right the First Time Review: Awesome book. Unbelievable the things we say which hinder what we are trying to accomplish, some of which are surprisingly obvious, and others not so obvious. Great illustrations of what works, what doesn't work and why. It has totally changed the way in which I speak, as well as listen. A must for everyone!
Rating: Summary: Anyone else from Scottsdale? Review: I wonder what the odds would be of yet another reviewer from Scottsdale, AZ giving this book five stars? I wish Amazon had a better system of cleaning up obvious abuse of its ratings system. I've already suggested a "Ratings Abuse Notification" option through their email customer service which is yet to be acted on. Would be a good idea if readers of Amazon reviews could make it a point to alert others of suspicious book ratings.
Rating: Summary: Enriched My LIfe! Review: Saying just the right thing takes more than just an idea. The right words are so important. I have used these techniques in my business and personal life and they really do work. The communication principles and key points help to make it so clear why certain phrases and words work so much better than others. And this is not just a business communication book, although it works so well as one. This is also a book that should be used by anyone wanting to improve relationships in general. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Secret Communication Weapons for Work and Home! Review: The author is direct and to-the-point so I'll do the same: This book is great! I've picked up many valuable communication tips and guidelines that no one ever explained or articulated as clearly and precisely as Loretta Malandro. This week I've been using her coaching on how to "manage up" to my boss. In the past, I've avoided communicating about issues I thought would create conflict. Now I'm telling my boss about things that have bothered me for a long time using Malandro's skills for talking straight and he is actually listening and not reacting! I have much more control and power than I ever realized I had by harnessing the power of my words and using the skills in this book on a daily basis. My recommendation: BUY IT, READ IT, USE IT and you'll get results!
Rating: Summary: "Say It Right" lacks psychological insight Review: There is something for everyone in this book. Dr. Malandro is a genius! This book is helping me not only in my business communications but in my family life too. The examples are concrete and easy to apply to common situations. This book is taking a permanent spot in my library!
Rating: Summary: Say it Right the First Time Review: This easy to read book is powerful, insightful and just plain practical. Dr. Malandro gives it to us straight without pretext or frills. She makes it clear how we communicate makes for success or failure. Her insightful coaching resonates for me professionally and personally. We need to hear more from Dr. Malandro! I can't wait for her next book.
