Rating: Summary: Just what the dream doctor ordered! Review: I have read many books on business plan writing, marketing, selling and the like and have had many years to experiment with how to take business ideas and make them flesh, never an easy thing to do. I wish I could tell you that I've made a million dollars already, but I am sure that plenty of other future millionaires will indeed get their first sound and sage advice from this well written, well thought out and thorough book. Accessible, flexible and never condescending, this book doesn't miss a trick, exception to the rule or forget that a pleasurable and meaningful life is probably the greatest success of all. A very well rounded resource. Great for the novice or experienced entrepreneur considering the next growth stages. If you want to build your own business, whether a man or a woman by the way, you should buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Where is Victoria Magazine? Review: I love this book! It seems to me that in both of these books there is a theme: Debby DuBay, Retired United States Air Force and owner of Limoges Antiques Shop in historic Andover, MA and author of a fantastic series of books on collecting Limoges; Living With Limoges, Antique Limoges at Home and Collecting Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain, Boxes to Vases. DuBay inspired me with her story of patriotism and passion for porcelain. In addition, her insight and quotes in this book are useful and enlightening. "All of us are unique - and we should use that uniqueness to succeed" states DuBay. These words could not be better advice in the world we live in today.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational, informational, must have book! Review: Purchased this book in Limoges Antiques Shop, Andover, MA from one of the contributors; Debby Dubay, ret, USAF and author of her own series on collecting Limoges porcelain. This book is remarkable and if you are considering starting your own business or turning your passion into a profession this book is a must. Debby DuBay credits The Business of Bliss and Victoria Magazine for her success - but her input was invaluable with the success of this publication.
Rating: Summary: Worth Every Penny Review: Someone once told me, "It's not what we do in life that we regret, it's what we don't do." This book will get you going on starting the business of your dreams. The author has clearly gone the extra mile; that she once wrote for the New York Times is very evident in this book. There isn't a piece of advice about starting or running your own business that is missing. I had attended community seminars, met with many local business people, run from small business workshop to the library and back again--and could have saved all that leg work and a lot of time if only this book had come out sooner! I found all the information I needed in this one extremely well-written book. I loved the use of quotes and the worthwhile and well-chosen anecdotes from women who have had real life experiences starting their own businesses. The book includes information and a great glossary of websites for obtaining free publicity (very important), as well as understandable information on financial management--which I admit I hate, I'm the creative type--but it is SO important. Also how to hire and fire staff, something few entrepreneurs know much about. Marketing, retailing, wholesale, tradeshow tips, mail order, great website information and e-business tips. It's truly all there in this book, which I put on my list of "worth every penny." True to Victoria Magazine, it is visually very pleasing to the eye as well--something women will appreciate.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational, educational, enjoyable! Review: Wow! If you need a guide on how to turn your passion into a profession - I recommend this book. The experts have been used to provide input, and I love Debby DuBay's story in this book and in The Business of Bliss. The information provided about the Small Business Association is the best and I received a low documentation loan following the outline in this book! I owe my success to Janet and Ms DuBay. Highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Where is Victoria Magazine? Review: Written by the editors of Victoria Magazine who collaborated with successful women such as author, shop owner, retired Air Force Officer and Veteran Debby DuBay this book is a must. I have tried getting in contact with Victoria Magazine to no avail, but a few of the women they highlighted are still available to mentor women like myself. I am a professional woman who wanted to turn a passion into a career and Ms DuBay has been my mentor. Thanks to this book I was able to contact her. Highly recommend this book.
