Rating: Summary: The introduction is worth reading Review: The introduction is by far the best chapter in the book of John Urry. There the author combines philosophical theories with social studies on the "tourist gaze"; a gaze that stands equally for a change in perception as for transforming the world into a "stage" of artificial authenticity.
The following chapters provide the sociological material that lead to the conclusions of the introduction. That's why the text looses his strength and turns into a compilation of facts that lack intellectual challenge.
