Summary: An excellent treatise on the nature of economic crises
Review: This book gives the reader the basic mechanism and the various causes of econimic crises in a very facile way.
I was excited by the approach of Krugman and by the challenges that Krugman appointed to the reader (and not only ...) on the field of macroeconomics and monetary policies (always supplemented by a political comment...).
A basic economic background is needed by the reader in order to fully understand the essence of the various crises treated within this book.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested on economic crises of the contemporary world .

Summary: Emerging Market Meltdown
Review: Written with clarity, Paul Krugman shows how the economics textbooks went right out the window as soon as the crisis hit Asia. He also describes how any countries may be vulnerable to what economists call "self-fulfilling speculative attacks". Most of all, Paul Krugman makes the topics under discussion accessible even for college student like me.
Any economic student that wants to learn more about international financial crises should own this book.
