Summary: Organizations in The Visual Era
Review: Having had first hand experience as an IT Manager of a company that embodies the Visual Management concept, I can enthusiastically recommend this book for anyone wanting to improve the performance of an organization. Seeing is Believing delivers a new, practical, and doable approach to improved productivity in an environment that simultaneously recognizes its employees.
Visual management may at first seem as simple as adding some office decor and leaving it at that. But the authors are quick to point out that an office that looks good is not the primary goal. The primary goal is an office that performs well. This book provides some excellent suggestions on how to achieve this goal through the alignment of an organization's mission and vision with its management infrastructure in the simplest and most effective manner known - through visuals.
I particularly liked the concepts presented to recognize the workforce, including the posting of photographs and graphics of employees and their family members. This type of recognition boosts morale on a daily basis and helps to make all employees truly feel part of the organization.
Liff and Posey have added some visual soul to a field that's been searching for a more modern approach. Read this book and you will learn how to add this soul to your organization's management and get it on the road to being a top performer.
