Rating: Summary: Finally someone's on the ball! Review: Congtatulations to Ken for creating a simple to read yet powerful message that corporate leaders can use to build their companies and re-earn the trust of the American people. I urge all executives to pick this up and apply it's wisdom. John Assaraf CEO The Street Kid Company
Rating: Summary: Required reading for CEO's Review: Enron's exec's should have had the principles so well set forth in this excellent book to guide them. If their core values were those alluded to by Ken Majer, perhaps their stockholders would not have been betrayed.
Rating: Summary: A great read with a timely message. Review: I thought the "parable style" business book format had run its' course. I WAS WRONG. This book is not only easy to read but also sells a much needed message of honesty and integrity. Unlike so many others, this story is long on practical solutions that can engage any manager at any level. Ignore the message in this book today and be a feature story on "60 Minutes" tomorrow.

Rating: Summary: Great Book on Values Review: In Dec of 2003, I gave this book to the seventeen CEO's that I mentor. By Mar of 2004, many of them had already implemented a process to create values in their companies based on this book. I highly recommend this to CEO's of new and old companies.
Rating: Summary: Highly recommend Review: In Values Based Leadership, Ken Majer highlights a common problem that exists in many businesses. His entertaining parable about a CEO that awakens from a nightmare to discover his company (and his career) are on the skids, brings to light the fact that many CEO's create mission statements, crafted from their own personal values, then they distribute the mission statement throughout their organization presuming that employees will naturally adopt the CEO's values as their own.The books points out the fallacy in this traditional leadership approach and challenges leaders to transform the way they conduct business by focusing on an excellent fresh approach to create shared values in a company that employees will adopt and utilize to drive a company to great success. This book belongs in every CEO's library and is a must read!
Rating: Summary: Solid Read Review: Ken Majer's recently published "Values Based Leadership" is a book that clearly resonates with recent events in American business. Although a fairly short read, it's full of leadership concepts that can (and should) serve as the foundation for our businesses and our lives. Spend 2+ hours reading Values Based Leadership... you'll be hard pressed to find a better use of your time.
Rating: Summary: A message for ambitious business leaders Review: Kenneth Majer's message is so simple that most business leaders do not think about it. But they need to understand his point if are they are to have followers - the real attribute of a leader. Why should members of the team follow the dictates of the would-be leader if (s)he does not acknowledge and respect the values that they hold dear? Of course they won't. So why not encourage the team to articulate their own values and then harness those ideas appropriately? Kenneth Majer's message is that simple.
Rating: Summary: Lead your team Review: The concepts are simple and easy to apply. Effective leadership produces a good team. Values based leadership produces cohesive, exceptional winning teams. Ken's book is the competitive edge we are all looking for and the solution to the frustrations we see when our team is not all heading for the same goal. Best of all, Ken doesn't waste the reader's time with filler. It's all meat !
Rating: Summary: Very valuable, very readable Review: The parable in this easy to read book is also summarized nicely into concise guidance for managers. The parable itself is modern, but the leadership values learned are timeless.
