Rating: Summary: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Long-Term Care Planning Review: As a retired teacher, I decided to begin a new career where I could use my skills in a seminar format to help others plan for retirement. During question and answer periods, the topic of long-term care would always be brought up. I soon learned that if my seminar was to be worthwhile, I would need to be educated in all areas of long-term care planning. During the past years I have taken courses, listened to lectures, and have read much literature on the subject, but nothing has helped me more than Marilee Driscoll's ...Guide to Long-term care planning. Marilee's guide is thorough, and written in a style that makes an otherwise complex topic clear and easy to understand. Her sense of humor permeates every page, which makes reading a joy. This book has become my primary reference. Recently, I attempted to purchase some of Ms. Driscoll's products via the internet. I called a phone number, and a recorded voice indicated that someone from the company would return my call. To my delight, it was returned by Marilee herself. She enthusiastically answered all my questions, and gave me some wonderful suggestions and advice. It was like conversing with someone I had known my whole life. Her upbeat personality which shines through in her literature, is available in buckets when you speak with her. In short; I loved reading her. I loved speaking with her. I can't wait to see her video, hear her audio, and use her other products. I whole-heartedly recommend her book Complete Idiot's Guide to Long-Term Care Planning, which has become a "Bible" to me. It is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating, and more.

Long-term care planning is a complex topic, and the author has made the exploration interesting, complete, and fun. Marilee Driscoll should be congratulated for not only raising timely and critical issues, but also for addressing her topic clearly with specific guidelines and recommendations. This book is a keeper...for reading and reference. ...
Rating: Summary: Invaluable! Review: I can't believe how great this book is! I find the subject of long-term care planning confusing, but the author shines a bright light on it, revealing advice and practical suggestions that I never considered. This book gives you important details that other books don't - for example, there's a full chapter on Veteran's Benefits, when most long-term books either ignore the topic or write only one page. This is also the first book I've seen that covers the important new Federal Long Term Care Program (Ch. 15). By the way, the book is easy to read, and the author even makes this topic fun. At 360 pages, this is the only book you need.
Rating: Summary: Cutting Through The Clutter Review: It seems that most books about long-term care are either written by someone who really isn't familiar with the subject or by someone with an ulterior motive (i.e. an agent writing a book to boost his credibility to sell a certain product). Marilee's book is different -- it provides an unbiased reference guide for long-term care to help consumers make the best decision for their own personal needs. Thankfully, this book has been finally published.
Rating: Summary: Clear, accurate and comprehensive Review: Marilee Driscoll gives you one-stop shopping for all the issues you'll face involving long-term care, whether that's buying long-term care insurance, placing a family member in a nursing home, or doing Medicaid planning. She's clear, accurate, and comprehensive, and, even better, she writes with a sense of humor. This book is definitely not for idiots.
Rating: Summary: Long Term Care - What you need to know. Review: This book is a must-read for the baby boomers looking either to protect their assets or to provide some level of comfort that you will have the funds to live in a facility of YOUR choice should you need it. Don't wait another year before reading this book.
Rating: Summary: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Long-Term Care Planning Review: What a great reference book for a subject that we find so hard to face! Marilee Driscoll's book not only explains all of the options that are available in a concise, easy to understand way, but you can also pick an area that you need to research without starting at the beginning of the book. I originally bought the book to see what the options are for my parents, but it also made me think about starting to plan for my own long-term care. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to make sure that they will be prepared to get the care that they want!
Rating: Summary: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Long-Term Care Planning Review: Who would have thought that a generally very dry subject could become downright fascinating? I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I took this book on a camping trip and read it by the campfire. When it got too cold, I actually read it in my sleeping bag by flashlight. I would recommend this book to anyone that has ever considered long term care...whether for themselves or a loved one. If you are a financial professional, you should not miss this book. It brings together information that would take 20 years in the financial services industry to accumulate on your own. All that, and somehow Marilee Driscoll manages to address a generally somber subject with a healthy dose of tasteful humor.
