Summary: Waste of time
Review: I know that there aren't very many books on this subject, but this book was very disappointing to me. If you are interested in the gritty details of the hoops you must jump through than this book is not for you. If you aren't sure emotionally if nursing school is right for you, or if you need a little hand holding than this book may be all right. Full of useless commentary.

Summary: Good High Level Overview
Review: This book was a good starting point for me. I'm contemplating a career change to nursing having worked in IT for 19 years. Lots of useful quotes and advice from students, new grads and staff nurses. I liked the high level view and broad scope this book gave me.

Talks about multiple paths to RN: Diploma, Associate Degree (AD); also called ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing), and Bachelor Science in Nursing (BSN). Straightening out the acronyms is half the battle. No mention of LPN or LVN programs however, and thought that would have been helpful. It (LPN) would fall between Diploma and ADN programs I believe.

This is the 2nd edition. Click on the author's name to see the 1st edition for more reviews. I would suspect it is very similar. Note: You can look inside the 1st edition. The table of contents is very helpful.

One gripe I had was the price: $22.95, with No discount. So, consider used; 1st edition around $10, 2nd $18. Overall I thought the book was worth it and recommend it to prospective students.

Summary: Great resource for finding your way
Review: This book was completely amazing. Fun to read, extremely informative, lots of information about not only beginning nursing school but getting through until the end! Lots of great quotes, tons of resources (some chapters have a couple dozen helpful websites listed!)and information I use every day.

Not only the most helpful book I've read about nursing school, but also the best career guide in general I've seen!

I can't say enough about this book!
