Rating: Summary: Very informative book, must buy Review: This book is excellent in giving the massage therapist a game plan in running a business. It also helped me in studying for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. It was helpful when I was reviewing for the Business practices part of the exam. However, I also highly recommend the following which is also sold on amazon.com: The Ultimate Study Guide for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork: Key Review Questions and Answers (Topics: Human Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology) Vol 1 ISBN: 0971999643 (Topics: Clinical Pathology and Recognition of Various Conditions) Vol 2 ISBN: 0971999651 (Topics: Massage Therapy and Bodywork: Theory, Assessment and Application. Professional Standards, Ethics and Business Practices) Vol 3 ISBN: 097199966XThe last 3 books helped me pass the test with ease. I highly recommend all 4 books.
Rating: Summary: Essential business primer for a new healthcare professional Review: While bookstore browsing, this book literally jumped off the shelf at me. I wondered why a book entitled "Business Mastery" was in the health section; after I flipped through, I knew the reason. It is geared towards new health care professionals, either in school or new graduates, and also is of value to experienced professionals, as myself. This is more a handbook on how to get in touch with what you want out of a private practice, and how to make it materialize. The first section is an excellent right-brained exercise in gathering left-brained materal to transform into a business plan. As an experienced physician with an established practice, I found some useful techniques to renew my practice focus. I have since used the book as a basic text in a business class for new health care professionals, and in consulting new professionals wanting to build a large, successful practice.
