Summary: Helpful, inspiring & fun to read
Review: Get Slightly Famous is a rare find: excellent tips, inspiring true stories, and enjoyable to read without being full of fluff. At first I just flipped through it, reading "Real-World Success Stories"(they're easy to find, marked clearly--& there are dozens of them), but then I found myself reading the book cover-to-cover. There's quite a bit of good advice here that I haven't read or heard anywhere else, & I've read a lot of marketing & PR guides.

Summary: A unique and instructional business guide

Summary: A must read for business owners and marketers!
Review: Of the hundreds business books I have read over the last 5 years, this one has been one of the most useful. It is practical, straightforward and well organized. The "real world success stories" are inspirational and motivational.

Best of all, Steven Van Yoder has written a business book with a practical application. It took me a few weeks to read this book, but not because I wasn't interested or it was boring. On the contrary. I put the book down every few pages so I could go try out an idea that Steven suggested in his book. For the most part, the tactics are easy to implement and no-cost or low-cost.

How I market my business has changed for the better since reading this book. I recommend it to any business owner.

Summary: I'd give him TEN if AMAZON would let me!
Review: Since I started my own company in 2001, I have purchased and reviewed more books on marketing than you can put on a six foot bookcase. The really bad ones I've thankfully SOLD BACK on Amazon. But you couldn't give me enough money to sell Steven Van Yoder's amazing book! Steven, who runs his own company, knows the value of niche and clearly states the importance of branding without sounding cute, contrived or gimicky. His approach is that of a tried and true professional who speaks from experience. His background in journalism makes him an expert on media relations and his approach to making yourself famous in your own indsutry truly works. I should know--I hired this man to help grow my own company, Creative Visions Consulting, and everything he's done has PAID OFF! If you want practical advice you can immediately apply to your business, THIS is the book! But be warned--these are not OVERNIGHT SPLASHES that create success--what Van Yoder offers is a SYSTEMATIC WAY to build your business through CONSISTENT and QUALITY exposure, something most marketing gurus or "niche experts" never want to tell you until you've forked over your money! So....get clicking and get this book--you'll be glad you did!

Summary: The Best Marketing Book I've Ever Read
Review: Steven Van Yoder has a deep understanding of the challenges facing small business owners - and offers innovative, low cost methods to succeed in today's fiercely competitive business climate. I enjoyed learning from the many real-life examples of successful entrepreneurs in the book. Steve's humor, expertise, and hard earned wisdom shine on every page. I have re-read Get Slightly Famous twice and highly recommend it to anyone trying to succeed as a small business owner or as a professional in private practice.

Summary: One of the Two Best Books on Personal Branding
Review: Steven Van Yoder's book is tied along with Robert Bly's "Become A Recognized Authority In Your Field - In 60 Days Or Less" as one of the two best books available on personal branding. In addition to these two books, I'd also like to point you toward C.J. Hayden's wonderful "Get Clients Now." Any of these books is ideal for service professionals trying to build a brand and a reputation. Consultants, in particular, will benefit from studying these three books. Highly recommended.

Summary: No-hype strategies to get business
Review: This book provides a realistic, comprehensive system to attract more business by becoming a"mini" celebrity in your field. It's loaded with step by step ideas you can do yourself. And unlike many marketing books out there it avoids "pie in the sky" promises and supports it's ideas with real world example on virtually every page. I highly recommend Get Slightly Famous for both beginners and experts. It will not only help you become a better marketer,it's also fun to read!
