Summary: A practical view of supply chain management
Review: Finally, a book that approaches supply chain management from the perspective that it is an integral part of a well-formed business strategy. By using solid examples, the authors illustrate how businesses can use strategic supply chain management to drive competitive advantage. In addition, the authors outline a practical framework to better manage the supply chain.

I recommend this book for supply chain professionals looking for a way to simply and effectively illustrate the competitive power of supply chain management. This book is also a must read for the non-supply chain executive looking for a way to tap into the power of supply chain management.

Summary: good examples
Review: Shoshanah Cohen gave a supply chain strategy workshop at a conference I attended and I received a copy of the book after the workshop. The book has a lot of good examples of what real companies are doing and I have been able to use some of the ideas in my own work. It is an easy read.

Summary: Strategic yet Practical insight into Supply Chain Management
Review: This book is based around 5 core principles that the authors suggest form the bais of competitive supply chain strategy. In a clear and non-jingoistic style they set out their case, illustrated along the way with many industry examples and quotations. The several case studies from leading industrial companies and the Department of Defense bring the subject matter to life.

An easy to read book for the non-practitioner, and for the practitioner and aspiring practitioner - a book full of practical insight.

Summary: Excellent book for C-Level Execs
Review: This is the first book I've found that discusses supply chain management in a way that makes it relevant and understandable for the C-level executive. And the examples prove that real ROI value can be created by looking more carefully at a company's supply chain. As an operations executive myself, I've had trouble getting other members of my company's executive management team to pay sufficient attention to supply chain issues. The five core disciplines from this book are easy to explain, and people now understand what we need to do to make our supply chain a competitive advantage.

I was happy to find a book that includes numerous, practical examples from companies that I can relate to and advice I can actually use.
