Summary: Average
Review: Strategic Management Theory: An Integrated Approach (Fourth Edition) by Hill and Jones is used in my BUS 499 Business Strategy class at Hannibal-LaGrange College. I would consider this book to be about average. It has many charts and graphs which I find to be helpful. I believe a better job could have been done when explaining difficult material. The Closing Cases help relate a "real world" aspect to the material.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Pretty good, but needs more color
Review: This book contained quite a bit of information, and I found that it covered it quite well. It explained each topic clearly. Also, the book was organized in a such a way, that topics were not talked about repeatedly. It helped that the key words of the chapter were in bold text, so that they could be more easily found. The book could be improved by having more color and graphs.

Summary: An interesting book arranged logically.
Review: This book has been a helpful resource in knowing more about business and strategy. The illustrations helped to make the material clearer. The outline of the book made study somewhat easier. I feel that I am better prepared for my future career after reading and studying this book.

Summary: sometimes confusing for me...
Review: This book is used as our text in my senior level business strategy class. I found the book easy to read. However, understanding for me did not come as easily. Concepts discussed were vague. Although they were well defined, their relationships were not as obvious. The graphs that were provided did not help me to understand some of the ideas. However, the charts were good at putting the ideas and different classifications together.

Summary: An overall good book
Review: This book was fairly easy to read. It's organization provides an easy-to-follow guide to business strategies. One thing that I didn't like about the book was the graphs and charts. However, I did like the tables that gave short summaries of the chapters, and I found the opening and closing cases very helpful in applying the subject matter to the business world.

Summary: Complete and comprehensible
Review: This strategic management book is definitely a good introduction into strategic management. I am a management student myself and read it as an introduction. I have compared it to some of the other intoductory books that other schools use, and in my opinion, it is much more direct than the others I have seen. It does not beat around the bush. And it is more detailed than the others. For example, the chapter on competitive, unlike many of the other books, really tries to give as concrete a picture as possible about what this 'vague' concept actually entails. In short, it really increased my insight into the area of strategic management a great deal!

Summary: Business Strategies: The Cap Course
Review: This was an easy to read book that mixed colors to help hold the attention of the reader. The examples, charts, and diagrams probably helped some to explain the information, but were a little confusing or not always necessary. There were too many closing cases, but they were helpful in explaining the chapters.
