Summary: This book saved my life!
Review: Dr. Vliet has once again managed to provide women with a wealth of information in a straightforward, very readable way. Her messages to us are presented in such a personal manner, it's no wonder so many women feel they have finally found a book written especially for them. This book is a powerful tool in the quest for a healthier life.

Summary: A MUST READ
Review: Dr. Vliet is the most insightful doctor I have ever come in contact with. Over the past few years I had no clue what was going on with my body and hormones and as a 25 year old woman having hot flashes I knew something was wrong. After going over 11 months to my regular doctors and OB/Gyn I was convinced that I was going crazy because the 3 blood tests that they ran came up showing that my hormones were "normal". I read this book and became armed with so much knowledge that I scared my own doctors. I learned that there are many more tests that should have been ran but my doctors did not want to hear a patient tell them what to do. I went to Dr. Vliet and she has helped me re-gain my life, my self-esteem, and my womanhood. This book is informative and will give you a better understanding of your hormones and in this day and age we need to become our own doctors in a sense. The more informed you are the more powerful you become.

Additionally, if you have been diagnosed with PCOS or suspect that you may have PCOS you MUST READ THIS BOOK!

Many thanks to Dr. Vliet!

Review: Dr. Vliet is the only person who has given me the hope of leading a normal healthy life without migrains, heart problems, weight issuees and the thought of more complications to come as I age. I recomend that anyone young and old with hormonal problems read this book to find the same hope I did!

Summary: A Must Read For Every Woman
Review: Every woman should read this easy to understand, well written book by this amazing woman. She explains everything you need to know about how hormones effect every part of you, physically, mentally and emotionally. Dr. Vliet wrote this book in plain english so we can all understand it. It is so great because someone understands and has researched everything that your Dr. has been telling you is all in your head, or stress or depression. It gives you answers to what you have suspected was brought on by the birth of a child, tubal ligation, hysterectomy, perimenopause, or menopause and other Drs. have told you that it is not possible. It is a life line for women. Dr Vliet shows you that you do not have live your life and suffer thru PMS, depression, fatigue, mood swings, intolerable periods, insomnia, migraines and all the other things that Drs tell you that you just have to deal with because you are a woman.
Dr. Vliet also effectively covers all your questions and concerns about all the news that has been out there about HRT. You honestly can not make informed decision about HRT until you read this book. This book review does not even do her or her book justice. Dr. Vliet has given me my life back and I will be forever grateful to her.

Summary: Highly recommended for all women
Review: I'd always suspected birth control pills were triggering my vulvodynia episodes, but numerous gynecologists wouldn't even consider a connection. When I took birth control pills for a third time and had another vulvodynia flare-up -- along with urinary urgency and other symptoms of estrogen deficiency, such as pre-ovulatory and pre-menstrual mood swings -- I knew I that something to do with my hormones. Thank god for Elizabeth Vliet. I read "Screaming To Be Heard" first, which is excellent -- but this book contains most of the same information in a style that is much easier to read. Sure enough, when my hormones were tested, they confirmed everything that Vliet's book said they would base don my symptoms. This book can't take the place of your doctor, but it can help you take control of your medical problems by learning how your body works and what tests to ask for. I'd recommend it for any woman who has unexplained medical problems or is nearing menopause -- actually, any woman, period.

Summary: Excellent
Review: If you have ever suspected that issues you may have (acne, fatigue, mood swings, depression, migranes, hirsutism, weight gain) are related to your hormones, you MUST read this book. It legitimizes concerns, and gives very clear guidelines on how to get help. It discusses what tests you should have, as well as what your results should be. This is one of the only books I've read that makes the important point that lab references do NOT equal optimal results...a very important point when discussing lab results with your doctor. All women, especially young women, who are interested in this subject and in taking control of their own healthcare should read this book.

Summary: I learned more from this book than from any of my doctors
Review: This book is a godsend. As a woman with polycystic ovarian syndrome, I have encountered many doctors and family members who felt that all of my symptoms could not possibly have been caused by a hormonal disturbance. You would not believe some of the stupid, unhelpful things doctors have said to me, such as suggesting that maybe the cause of my symptoms was depression (I'm not depressed!). However, since reading this book I have been able to take much more control over my own treatment. I wish every doctor would read this book. The hormone connections Dr. Vliet talks about are amazing, and the wisdom she shares indispensable. People still don't have enough of an understanding of how women's bodies work, and this book is the best one i've seen on the subject. (Because of my condition, I've read MANY books on women's health and PCOS, and this book is the only one that's truly been able to help me). I urge you to read this book and begin to take control over your own body.
