Summary: Immunology by Ivan Roitt - Still the best!
Review: While it may be argued that "Roitt" does not cover all areas of modern immunological research equally well, this book makes an great first textbook to get to know the general topics. Many color diagrams offer the necessary visual overviews of all the cell-cell/molecule-molecule interactions inherent to the topic. Professionals and researchers should be aware of the limits of this book; to all others it makes a wonderful learning aid. I haven't found another introductory book quite as good as this one. Teachers should be aware of the accompanying slides (and CD-ROMS), making the link to the textbook visually obvious for students.
