Review: As a welding business owner, I highly recommend this book to anyone deciding to weld for a career. This book is a text book, which may or not be in schools as we speak, but should be. It will give you all the information you will need to establish yourself as a compentent welder. First rate book, one you should check out, whether novice or pro, this will inform you!

Review: As advertised, this book is comprehensive in scope - even the most esoteric forms of industrial welding are covered. It is a good reference text, but probably not a good beginner's how-to book. As a welding amateur, this book expanded my knowledge of the subject tremendously. The text is oriented more towards commercial and industrial welding that amateur welding.One subject that is not covered that would have been most helpful is the electrical needs of welding equipment and how they are or can be met.

Summary: Modern Welding "LAB MANUAL"
Review: BEWARE The "LABORATORY Manual" is just a book of TEST FORM'S with no answers. 350+ pages of questions. It's probably fine ,if all you want is a book of TEST QUESTIONS. This is EASY to explain in a brief caption in a sales paragraph , since this is not at all mentioned ,and is followed with the review's of the real,,useful,books,,I feel this is just "PLAIN FALSE ADVERTISING"

Summary: A good source of welding knowledge
Review: Excelente la atención de Amazon. El libro: Muy bueno, es un compendio del arte de la soldadura que ayudará a cualquiera que desee introducirse en este campo. Contiene grán cantidad de información tanto de equipos como de procesos y técnicas. Desearía si que tuviese un poco mas de profundidad en el tema de la soldadura por resistencia del aluminio. Soy ingeniero mecánico, grán parte de mi trabajo tiene relación con soldadura y recomiendo de todas maneras leer este libro.

Use this book to fill in any gaps in basic formal training (such as from a local Community College, which is highly recommended for learning proper techniques) or knowledge. The book is filled with outstandingly detailed illustrations, tables and pictures that cover the different machine particulars, proper set ups and hand movement techniques that will allow anyone to produce consistantly strong welds on just about any material. Check it out: this book has so much information, and is layed out in such a way that it is easily worth twice the asking price!

Summary: modern welding "paperback" version
Review: I purchased Modern Welding- the "paperback" version, used off of Amazon, however, when it arrived today I was dismayed to discover that the "paperback" edtion is a Lab Manual, that is, a quiz that accompanies the text book. Well, I am out some cash and back at square one- I still need a copy of Modern Welding, too bad Amzon did not state that there is no Paperback version of Modern Welding.

Summary: Everything you need to know about welding
Review: If you want to repair bridges, make a chastity belt or simply want to learn something about welding, then this is the book you should purchase. Modern Welding is well organized and profusely illustrated. There is a wealth of detail in this book which should satisfy everyone from the professional welder to the backyard craftman. I was seized by an irrational desire to do some welding. I wanted a "how to" book that would explain how to do cutting and welding safely. Modern Welding explains every step in the welding process in a clear and concise manner. There are many illustrations which further clarify the text. For those readers with a professional bent, there are chapters on print reading, inspectioin, setting up a shop and getting and holding a job. I purchased some used oxyactylene equipment and shortly after the book arrived from Amazon Books, I was making sparks fly in the back yard. I thoroughly recommend this clearly written and beautifully illustrated book.
