Summary: Extremely useful to the real world
Review: This book is quite useful to the population for which it is intended: managers and supervisors (experienced, new, or wanting-to-be) who want to be more "leader-like" throughout the day. I enjoyed the unique & practical approach to the subject, while knowing I can easily implement the 15 needed skills and, as a result, hone my leadership abilities. Since there is not just one solution to success, all these skills are part of the puzzle of becoming effective managers and leaders at work.

This is not a theory-bound or 8-inch thick book; it is brilliant resource for the workplace. Every manager could use this book at his/her deskside.

Summary: Surprised to its applicability
Review: This book is really useful. I am a first-time supervisor and have no formal training in management.

What I like about this book is its skill-by-skill approach. It is very organized and each chapter builds upon the other, which in the end, showed me what it takes to be a better manager and leader in my job position.

Summary: Outstanding overview of leadership
Review: This book lays out well the facts that most readers would enjoying seeing. It distills the many facets of leadership and management and pulls them all together into one coherent book that would be useful to many in the work force. As a senior manager in a large public company, I can attest that this book is right on the money, and my staff and I plan on using it as a definitive guide.

Summary: Best practical book that I have read in years.
Review: This book will help you immediately on the job. I recommend it to the managers in your department or organization. (Great Holiday Gift!) It's a no-nonsense approach that emphasizes the things you and I talk about and wish for every day in our leaders, but never get. The Leader's Guide will explain how to get this level of professionalism from all the managers and supervisors in your organization. It will also help you!!

Summary: Very dynamic leadership book
Review: This has got to be one of the most comprehensive and concise leadership books available. Its treatment of leadership and management skills (a distinction it makes throughout the book) is easily understood, lacking of theory overload, and made for the person who needs it: the everyday supervisor and manager in either the profit or nonprofit sectors (I am in government).

This book will make a strong impression on you and its contents will be with you always. Highly recommend it.

Summary: Practical and quite useful
Review: This is one of few leadership books that shows you what you need to know without the fluff, theory, and war stories. It's well-written and easily read. It lays out the skills nice and neatly, and anyone can learn from this book, from novice manager to experienced leader. Highly recommend it.
