Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent guide for ecologically concerned travellers.
Review: This book is an extremely well documented account of the ways in which developing countries are proactively engaged in establishing a responsible agenda for tourism which can be beneficial to the host country. I strongly recommend this book for travel agents, individuals concerned with global ecology, and reseachers who wish to learn more about the policies and practices effecting tourism in developing countries.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is an excellent investigation of the tourism indust.
Review: This is a very complete investigation into the past and current state of the ecotourism industry. This widely travelled author has lived in or visited many eco tourist sites, interviewed many key players and combined all this information with an investigative reporter's sharp insite. She has high standards and calls it as she sees it. In doing so the author challenges all of us who are hopeful that eco tourism will benefit our southern neighbors to be more critical and demanding. A must read for serious travelers and people in the industry.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Must-read for practitioners and nature travelers.
Review: Well-written, comprehensive, and fascinating, Ecotourism and Sustainable Development accurately describes the players, ideas, and activities shaping ecotourism globally. With a rich combination of facts and colorful stories, this book greatly contributes to our understsanding of ecotourism and is a must-read for practitioners and nature travelers.

Elizaeth Boo, Ecotourism consultant and author, Ecotourism: Potentials and Pitfalls.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointment and more than a bit dull
Review: When I was awake and reading this book, I thought it a silly misuse of trees and ink. The author produced a book that is actually more dull than the sum of all policy reports in D.C., where she works. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets high marks from those who haven't actually read it. The book offers no recommendations on how to improve ecotourism or guarantee its success as a tool for sustainable development.
