Summary: Cryptozoology's True Over-Look Book!
Review: Hey all cryptozoologists! I'm only a teen, but I've been amazed w/ unknown creatures since I was just a little girl, and I must say that this book is one of the best that I've read on cryptozoology! I would recomend this book to anyone who loves strange creatures and wants to learn more a/b these creatures, and most of all, find out more creatures, please order this book and read it!

Summary: Good for those with a beginner's interest
Review: I am not a real science-type person, but I am interested in the Unknowns of this planet. I found a lot more in this book beyond the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot, which I thought was really great. I had no idea so many different(and identical)hidden animals had been reported through the ages around the world! The only thing I didn't like was the authors kept talking about several pieces of photographic evidence collected on different creatures throughout the book and then never presented them. I would have been very interested in seeing all these photos they mentioned, so I could make some judgements for myself. Otherwise, it has a lot of really good text information that can be expanded upon in further books.

Summary: A great bedtime read!
Review: I enjoy almost everything Loren Coleman and Jerome Clark publish, and in this collaboration, the writing style continues to be fluid, entertaining, and concise. The pairing of bonafide research and solid prose lends tremendous credibility to wide ranging reports of extremely rare species that have eluded capture, and hence verification by empirical (show me a carcass or live specimen) science. The entries seem a bit abbreviated at times and both writers have published much more detailed works on the same material. But, if you enjoy a few minutes reading before dozing off to sleep at night, then this book is perfect. Only beware! A few minutes can turn into a couple of hours with this collection of highly entertaining and thoroughly convincing campfire tales!

Summary: Interesting...
Review: I love cryptozoology, and this book is great for reference if you're looking for a specific creature. It also makes for an interesting time thumbing through the entries. I never could stand to read the entire thing in order, though.

Summary: An Erudite Work, Illuminating the Shadows of an Arcane Field
Review: In their most recent collaborative effort, "Cryptozoology A to Z: The Encyclopedia of Loch Monsters, Sasquatch, Chupacabras, and Other Authentic Mysteries of Nature", authors Loren Coleman and Jerome Clark have shed a much-needed light on an often misunderstood field and its personalities.

At once both compelling and fascinating in its detail and broad scope of coverage, "Cryptozoology A-Z" is destined to become the spark which kindles the imagination of a whole new generation of inquisitive minds. With biographies of the giants and not so giant in the field, past and present, as well as descriptions of cryptids both well-known and obscure this book is a fascinating tribute to an often maligned scientific realm.

It will surely be frequently referenced for years to come. Bravo.

Summary: Author's Insights: From Cryptids to Exciting Bios
Review: JOIN THE ULTIMATE QUEST FOR THE WORLD'S MOST MYSTERIOUS CREATURESDid you know that in 1992 a new species of quadruped called the saola, the largest mammal to be discovered since 1937, was found in the Vu Quang Forest of Vietnam? Did you know that until New York socalite Ruth Harkness brought Su Lin out of the jungles of Tibet to the United States in 1937, that the existence of the giant panda still remained a mystery? Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, Abominable Snowman-these are the names of the elusive beasts that have caught the eye and captured the imaginations of people around the world for centuries. Recently tales of these "monsters" as well as an increase in the numbers of sightings has elevated these creatures, and many others like the saola and the giant panda, from the shadowy world of legend and footnotes in travelogues to the subjects of cryptozoology-the study of hidden animals.Cryptozoology A to Z, the first encyclopedia of its kind, contains nearly 200 entries of cryptids (the name given to these unusual beasts), new animal finds, and the explorers and scientists who search for them. Loren Coleman, one of the world's leading cryptozoologists teams up with Jerome Clark, esteemed editor and author of several encyclopedias, to provide many never-before-published entries, drawings and photographs from eyewitness' detailed accounts. Full of insight into the methods of these scientists, exciting tales of discovery, and the history and evolution of this field, Cryptozoology A to Z is the most complete reference ever of the newest zoological science.LOREN COLEMAN, a forty-year veteran of cryptozoological field expeditions and research, has written several books on nature's mysterious creatures, including The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Mysterious America, and Tom Slick and the Search for the Yeti, and has served as both on-and-off camera consultant to NBC-TV's Unsolved Mysteries and A&E's Ancient Mysteries. He is a university professor in Maine and lives in Portland. JEROME CLARK, author of several respected encyclopedias on the history of natural phenomena, including the award-winning Unexplained! He lives in Canby, Minnesota.

Summary: Not quite what I expected
Review: Loren Coleman and Jerome Clark's Cryptozoology A to Z: The Encyclopedia of Loch Monsters, Sasquatch, Chupacabras, and Other Authentic Mysteries of Nature, is truly a book for the die hard cryptozoologist fan. The book reads more like a dictionary of terms rather than a book discussing legends and myths behind the many cryptids listed. Cryptozoology A to Z is neatly organized, and presents all the material alphabetically. Although an interesting book to read, it seems to focus more on the idea that crypids are serious members of the animal kingdom, rather than discussing their obscurity from general public knowledge.
