Summary: The BIG Picture
Review: For me, Sagan brought EVERYTHING together in an incredible and inspirational vision in Cosmos. I think he was the ultimate bigger picture person. If I had not read this book I think I would be forever lost in the details. While I find the parts to be interesting, the WHOLE is where I find MEANING. I have found a reality based understanding of my existance and it is profound.

Summary: BEST BOOK EVER
Review: I am just 15 years old and i've read this book almost five times filnding a different meaning to it each time. This book has given me the bases to study astronomy and I recomend you should really read it.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A fine introduction, but....
Review: Sagan's "Cosmos" is a fine generalization of the different elements and processes that drive our universe. Yet, the book (like all other books) is only a step in our development as human beings, and should not be revered too greatly. Like the religious scriptures' biases toward mystery and metaphysics, "Cosmos" expresses all the prejudices and assumptions of a biologist: in summa, one who wishes to be truthful must read the book critically (Note, for example, Sagan's belief in evolution by natural selection).

For serious scientific understanding, one would be best studying the disciplines' origins and histories, through their primary sources: the Ionian philosphers, the Arab astronomers, Renaissance authors, Einstein's explanation of Special and General Relativity, and so forth. This will take energy (which most folks are too lazy to exert), but the intellectual and spiritual rewards are ample.

Summary: The Universe Revealed
Review: Carl Sagan's genius has illuminated a whole new universe to me. Cosmos is the most informative and accomplished science book I have ever read. Cosmos made me feel as if I were being revealed secrets about the universe that were unrevealed to the rest of human society. Truly we need more scientific pioneers like Dr. Sagan.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An absolute treasure
Review: Definately the best science book I've ever read. Sagan manages to convey his opinions without forcing them upon you. His knowledge is mindboggling; his words, poetic. Anyone who wonders what the significance of the human being in this universe is should read this book.

Summary: Excellent
Review: "Cosmos" and "The Bible According to Einstein" are my two favorite books about the universe.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Understandable yet meaningful
Review: I read this book about 2 years ago, I was 13. Though he may not be the greatest scientist, Sagan truly opened up a world for me which has continually been an escape from sometimes vacuous society. I was saddened by his death, but plan to continue reading about astrophysics because of his books.

Summary: Absolutely fascinating.
Review: I would definitely reccomend this book to any reader who feels compelled to understand the universe in which they live. Never before have I absorbed so much knowledge from a book. Unlike reading a boring textbook, Carl Sagan has taken all things we automatically think of as "nerdy" and "intellectual" and made them accessible to readers, without regards to their background in science. I strongly recomend this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Long time fan of Sagan
Review: My first exposure to Sagan was on TV. I was watching his TV series which this book has been adapted from. It is the BEST book I've ever read. It has been on my bookshelf virtually all my life. I consider myself lucky that I have an original print copy of the book in hardcover. I'm truly saddened that he died.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must read if you consider the Universe an enigma!
Review: Very thought provoking. Though lesser material than the full edition, its worth the read for the price. If you like an abundance of images, you will be disappointed. One of the best books I have read so far.
