Summary: Most Thorough Guide on the Shelf Today!
Review: The Edwards' painstakingly detail many of the steps you need to take in starting a business from home using your computer. And they don't sugar-coat anything as they warn that any business that you start should be something that utilizes your skills and experiences.
This is an outstanding book and highly recommended!

Summary: Excellent resources & information for internet home business
Review: This book was clear and concise on getting the information needed to determine if one is suited for self employment on the internet. The authors obviously have alot of experience with online promotion of a business. This is what I was looking for. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about working at home thru the internet.

Summary: Good, but dated
Review: This is a good book with some good ideas, and it is cross-referenced so that you know what kind of business each idea involves. There are some ideas that I did not think of, along with additional resources listed.

The only problem is that the book is very dated now. This book was born when the internet was still gaining in popularity. One of the job descriptions suggests that companies are still unsure of how the internet can best be used.

I'd love to see an undated version of this book. Until then, it's a good, but limited resource for my needs.

Summary: Well worth the money
Review: This is a great book. As someone just begining to think about a home business, this book was very informative. I had had a general idea of what I might do, but this book helped clarify it and even gave it a name. It also gave me some other ideas to toss around. Beyond that however, the book was great in letting you know how to get started, some of the pitfalls to watch out for, and an overall sense of what it takes to start a home business. The only down side I found to the book was the constant references to other books by the same authors to get more detail information on any given topic. It was very frustrating when I didn't have the other books. But I guess their sales tactic worked since I bought two more of their books! I haven't read them yet, but because of this book I am looking forward to it.

Summary: Not current, although helpful
Review: This is another of Paul and Sarah Edwards'home business books, originally published in 1997. Much of the information here is similar to the computer-related material in their "The Best Home Businesses" book. Unlike the other book, this one has an Index.

While my comments about their other book obviously hold for this version of that information, the rapid changes in the computer industry make this a trickier buy unless you are already fairly computer savy, in which case you probably wouldn't need it anyway. The tremendous upsurge in outsourcing computer jobs to other countries, as well as sheer technological progress, has changed the face of some of these job categories considerably. You will need to research much more current information before committing to a business mentioned here.

That said, they do provide a good basic overview of what each business might entail. If you do not know much about computer-based business, this would be a good primer to see if something along that line interests you. I would recommend, however, that you do much more research with current information sources before you make a decision.

There are 100 ideas for computer based business. Each one has idea's and resources to help you get started. I found the explanation for each was very detailed and if you have any creativity what so ever you take it and go from the idea's listed.

This really was a very useful and resourceful book!

Review: Warning!!! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BOOK!!!

It is a complete wast of money.
Even though this book was written a few years ago, there is absolutely nothing in it that could even possibly be helpful. Basically, they just give you a little synopsis of 100 different potential business, from catering, daycare, tutoring, etc ; Businesses that are going to cost you a lot more than you could ever make in profits. And most of the websites they give you(few and far between) and just about all of the newsgroups they give you are gone.

There are many books out there about how to make money at home with your computer, and just save yourself the time and most importantly, the money, and look somewhere else...

Summary: Best Computer Money Making Book on the Market!
Review:      Do you want to earn extra income? Want to be your own boss? Own a computer that's collecting dust? Want to make your computer pay for itself? If you have answered affirmatively to these questions, you are among a growing number of persons who have decided to put their computers to use for themselves. Work-at-home experts Paul and Sarah Edwards have updated and expanded their popular book, Making Money With Your Computer at Home, to meet the growing demands of people today who want to earn income with their computers at home.

Making Money With Your Computer at Home was written by Paul and Sarah Edwards to meet the needs of those persons who for one reason or another desire to work from home. There are a number of reasons why working at home is either advantageous or even necessary. Working at home will sharply reduce business overhead expenses, it is tax deductable, it offers parents the opportunity to care for and even homeschool their children, and allows t! hose persons with limiting disabilities to earn an income from within the confines of their homes.

Making Money With Your Computer at Home is presented in two major sections. The first section provides readers with an amazing 100 actual occupations from which income can be generated at home. For instance, the authors point out that one can easily perform word processing work such as billing, invoicing, payroll, proofreading, and resume writing tasks. Those more technically inclined readers can perform computer consulting, setup, servicing, and training services.

This second edition of the book contains new material concerning the role of the Internet in today's society. Tasks such as Website design and setup, online publishing, and promotion can be easily accomplished from one's own home as well. The authors follow-up with a series of 47 thought-provoking pertinent questions that will help set the pace for successful home-based employment. These questions will gu! ide readers through the most important personal, finacial, ! and legal issues they may face, such as setting up an office, financing start-up costs, zoning regulations, determining what work to perform, advertising, targeting potential customers, and setting up an effective work schedule.

The second section of the book will guide readers through the process of purchasing the right computer and office equipment and obtaining the software they need to run a successful home business. Although the authors assume their readers have a basic understanding of computers, they provide sound advice on minimum requirements and offer recommendations on some name brand equipment. They thoughtfully encourage readers to avoid lower-end components by anticipating future considerations. From there the authors offer advice on how to setup and run computer and office equipment and businesses in a professional manner. For the benefit of readers, the authors also include a wealth of resources for computer use, operating a business at home, and going o! nline to sell particular products and services.

Although people can easily buy a computer and try setting up a business at home, this will by no means guarantee that they will be successful. Armed with this easy to read book, readers have the opportunity to tap into the rich resource of material and expertise offered by leaders in the home business field. Regardless of why people may want to work at home, this book will serve as an encouragement for them to find the work and develop the plans which are right for them. With this book and the right equipment, planning, and the motivation to succeed at home, readers will have an excellent chance to succeed. This is the best book available on the subject on the market today. Don't start a computer-based home business without it! Highly recommended!
