Rating: Summary: I think Vincent Bugliosi is highly intelligent. Review: I think the book was great, but I was disappointed with the epilogue where Mr. Bugliosi goes into a diatribe of his agnosticism. I think he should stick to "summations" of topics he knows. If he doesn't believe in a God, then how can he say that what O.J. did was wrong? Where is his standard of right and wrong coming from?
Rating: Summary: NOT a true crime book Review: I guess I picked the wrong book to learn about Ron & Nicole's murder. This book is for those who were able to watch TV and keep up with the Simpson trial. If you were not able to do so, you'll be lost in this book. I have tried very hard to get through it, because I do like the author, but have only gotten about half way through it. Outrage is just a critique of the attorneys who tried the case -- which you might find of interest if you're an attorney yourself. But if you're looking for the true crime story, this is not the book.
Rating: Summary: Stunning and Thorough; THE O.J. book for truth-seekers Review: In short, Bugliosi does a superb job emasculating both the prosecution and the defense. Those who criticize him for having an ego should observe his 105 convictions out of 106 jury trials. This book provides the O.J. trial junkies with all the information they need to know about the case itself. For those who seek more TV theatrics, go somewhere else. This 500-plus page book is THE O.J. book for those who want to know exactly how it was O.J.'s defense team appeared to pull a rabbit out of hat when, in reality, the L.A. prosecutors put a rabbit in a hat and gave it to the defense. (The amount of damning evidence that was intentionally chosen to not be submitted into evidence and the reasons such blunders were made is appalling.) Bugliosi's important influence on the O.J. case is not that he has put all the relevant factual evidence into one book for O.J. trial fanatics to use as reference(which he has), but the application of his experience and expertise to point out how easy a conviction would have been if prosecution did even a mininally poor job. Bugliosi leads readers by the hand through the evidence and simply says, "These are the questions I would have asked" and "There's no way on Earth I would have not submitted this vital evidence." When the book is at an end, you can't help but feel U.S. history and the vicious ramifications the trial has put on how we view our our legal and social systems would have been vastly different if someone like Bugliosi could have handled the case.
Rating: Summary: Had to force myself to finish it Review: While Mr. Bugliosi is a highly talented attorney, his views in this book are difficult to swallow. He spends the majority of time convincing the reader how smart he is and what the outcome would have been had he been the prosecutor. Maybe, maybe not. Mr. Bugliosi who garnered respect for his prosecution of Charles Manson has now become a defense attorney and makes his living doing what he condemns Johnny Cochran for.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Bugliosi was a ranting and raving lunatic in this book. Review: Not only did Bugliosi take on the same media that assisted him in the "GUILTY" verdict against Charles Manson, but he demeaned the same DA's Office that he takes great pride in having served for several years. Of course his demeaning wasn't reserved simply for the Judge, Prosecution, Defense Team, the Jury, and LAPD but he even finds time to demean GOD. I take great exception being from Missouri to Mr. Bugliosi's reference that I TOO NEEDED TO BE CONVINCED OF A SUPREME BEING. He ranted and raved, repeated himself on several occasion and had the audacity to offer us his version of what the Opening and Closing arguments should have been. This from a man who would have us believe his is extremely organized. Although he advises the reader that he was very disturbed about this case, he should have waited to go to print until he had calmed down sufficiently to make sense. If he felt so stongly that he was the only prosecutor in the world who could get a "GUILTY VERDICT" why did he not offer his services free of charge to the DA. I too believe that OJ Simpson got away with murder but I have to accept the opinion of 12 of my peers and learn to live with their decision. Not easy since I reside in Florida which is one of Mr. Simpson favorite escapes. I could not even bring myself to finish this book simply because he was repeating himself.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!! Review: Just finished this book. Bugliosi is tough,,,and I'm glad he is. If anybody I know is ever in trouble with the law, he's the man.
Rating: Summary: Bugliosi strays Review: When Bugliosi sticks with issues that are within his realm of expertise, he shines. I especially enjoyed the sample closing arguments he might have given were he the prosecutor. I am sure of this much: If Bugliosi had prosecuted Simpson, a brutal murderer would not now have custody of the children whose mother he murdered and left for them to find and he would not be haunting the golf courses. If Bugliosi had been the prosecutor, Simpson would now be haunting the halls of San Quentin where he belongs. Maybe he and Charles Manson could have been cellmates. When Bugliosi strays outside of his realm of expertise (the law) and starts lecturing on issues such as the existence of God -- which really had no place in this book -- he falls apart. He claims to have been raised and educated a Catholic, but now calls himself an agnostic who says that the only sound theory of God's existence is deism. Deism is the theory that God created the universe and now ignores it, caring nothing for the creatures of his hand. The simplest answer to someone who has said he was raised a Catholic and now says he considers deism sound is that a God who doesn't give two hoots about mankind doesn't suffer and die to redeem them. Had you stuck to your field of knowledge, Mr. Bugliosi, OUTRAGE would have been much better.
Rating: Summary: The only OJ book worth reading! Review: If you were angry about the OJ verdict, you'll be "Outraged" after reading this. Bugliosi slams the defense, the prosecution and the jurors. The difference between this OJ book and others is Bugliosi offers positive solutions on what should have been said and done that makes you beleive that even with this jury, OJ could have been convicted. I read his hypothetical arguments to the jury several times. OJ sould be glad he retired!
Rating: Summary: Too bad Bugliosi wasn't the prosecutor Review: I thought it was a great book to read. Bugliosi did give some terrific reasons for why O.J. should've been convicted of murder. But even though Bugliosi should've been the prosecutor in this case, we'll never know what would've happened if HE instead of Chris Darden and Marcia Clark prosecuted O.J.
Rating: Summary: Although after the fact, this book is worth reading. Review: Again, Mr. Bugliosi convinced this reader that both the prosecution and defense bungled this trial. This book walks the reader step by step through the crime scene. We are privy to evidence that was allowed in trial but NOT presented by the prosecution during trial. The DNA evidence should have been enough to convinct Mr. Simpson. He is a killer, and THAT is an outrage.
