Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very Informative
Review: I purchased this book to find out some information about Delta Sigma Theta Sorority because I was interested in pledging. After reading the book and finding out what Delta Sigma Theta is all about I want nothing more than to become a Delta. The book is well written. Even though there are a lot of historical facts it's a book you don't want to put down. If you are interested in pledging Delta it is definitely a book to read to help finalize your decision.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Informative and Interesting
Review: About 7 years ago, I purchased this book when it was originally published in a hardback version. I still can't put it down. I was very interested in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., as far as its public service projects and positive examples of sisterhood. Now that I've been a member for 6 years, I always reflect back on the reasons why I joined the Sorority (with this book). Several of my relatives were actively involved during their collegiate (undergraduate) days, and I have continued my membership after graduating from college. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the goals and principles of the Delta Founders should get this book.

Summary: In Search of the Delta Point of View
Review: As a proud descendant of a long line of distinguished Alpha Kappa Alpha women, and being one myself, my only interest in this book was to satisfy my curiosity about the official reasons the 22 founders of DST sited for leaving AKA. The book was extremely helpful in that respect. The chapter regarding the founding of this organization was most helpful in answering my historical questions. Although I don't agree with some of Giddings' historical perspectives, I suppose the book could be a wealth of information for a DST hopeful. For the record, I read the book prior to becoming an AKA, but it still couldn't sway me from joining the First and Finest!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book is an insightful and helpful study guide
Review: Having just crossed DST, this book really help me to examine what I was really getting myself into. As I read more, I really wanted to push on and continue until I made it.

Summary: Hard to Read
Review: I am a woman searching for sisterhood in Delta Sigma Theta Soroity Inc. A member of the soroity suggested I read this book to fully understand the triumps of the organization. However, I found the book to be very wordy and filled with frivilous information. It was very hard for me to keep my attention on what I was reading. I do think Ms. Giddings did an excellent job researching and documenting the history of the soroity. I was just boring. Sorry

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: I am not a member of this sorority but after reading this book I definately want to be a part of something so powerful as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. "In Search of Sisterhood" is a very informative and well written book. It is a good book for ladies doing research and deciding on sororities or just good for a history lesson. Lots of history in this book about Delta and the movement that it was involved in. A definate must read!

Summary: A Keepsake
Review: I bought this book as a college student 8 years ago. I was a legacy contemplating going to "Deltaland." Since crossing over in an alumnae chapter in 1999, I must say that my Sorority, its history, and legacy, are paramount in my life. This book helped me make the transition that was 7 years in the making. It is full of history, and it makes me proud to be a Delta and proud to be a Black Woman. There is a lot of history in this book for ALL--not just Deltas. I encourage EVERYONE, regardless of affiliation, race, creed, color, or religion, to read it. It will teach you a lot about American history in the 20th Century.

Summary: This book was excellent!
Review: I do not agree with the reader who said that AKA did not want their former members. Delta Sigma Theta founders had altogether different goals to achieve, so they formed their sorority around them. I have been studying their history for about five years, and I KNEW that AKA and Delta did not agree on many things. I certainly don't think it is case of the founders of neither sorority being misfits.

Summary: A Wonderful Sisterhood
Review: I first read this book when I was 16 and starting to look at colleges. When I read it I knew that one day I'd want to be a Delta. I then read the book again when I went to college at the beginning of my sophomore year after I saw the Delta's on my campus and what they were doing and I grasped a lot more of the history of the organization and all that was done to make it the best organization. Now I read this book as a member and it's a constant reminder of the legacy of the 22 founders of my sorority. The book is full of history and it gives a Delta perspective. It is far from being an easy read but it provides a wealth of knowledge in it.
