Summary: A Wonderful Book! A Necessity for Anyone Taking the CBEST!
Review: Thank You Rick Sliter for making my dream of becoming a teacher a reality. This book was almost an exact replica of the actual CBEST. The questions reflected both the style and difficulty of those on the actual test. I also appreciated Mr. Sliter's witty approach to the CBEST. I never thought that studying could be so much fun! Do not take the CBEST without studying this book first.

Summary: I Finally Passed the CBEST
Review: Thanks to Cracking the CBEST, I finally passed the CBEST. I took the exam two times and received a low score of 30 on the math portion. I truly believe this book is the reason that I finally passed the math seciton with a score of 44. Thank you for preparing a book that is easy for non-math majors to understand. I will spread the word to my classmates that your book is the best.

Summary: A nice primer -- gives you the basics and not overkill
Review: The book was a nice primer. It gives you a nice walk through what to expect on the exam, provided wonderful pointers and how to take the test. It was worth my 15 bucks and calmed my taking the test anxieties. I just got my test scores back and was ecstatic to find that I passed the test the first time. I didn't totally agree with all the math techniques, but it gives you a good idea of the level of math to expect and the types of questions. I gives a thumbs up for the essay section reviews on how to begin your thought process to take the two writing sections. In this regard, this book was my lifesaver to passing the test the first time. Thanks to the authors, Rick Sliter and LLC Lishing.

Summary: Correct answers would be nice.
Review: The majority of this book is very useful, but I find it inexcusable to have at least two incorrect math problems, one in the graphing section and one in the quantifier section. 28 students took geometry in the winter, not the spring. How can you have no green marbles, yet have a collection of marbles, some colored only green? Also, some students might find it helpful if you explained the pi symbol just a bit before throwing it in. And the fact that you give a number for feedback that can't be reached from California, for a test in California is quite lame.

Summary: Great book
Review: This book contains a very representative group of sample questions, based on the CBEST I took. The review was very helpful, especially for the written section. It's hard enough to write something good, but on the test you have to write it SHORT, which is even harder. The book gives some great hints on how to construct a short but complete essay.

Summary: The only book you'll need
Review: This book is very clear and will be the only book you'll need. I passed with flying colors on my first try and this is the only book I used to study. It comes with two practice exams in the back of the book. I highly recommend doing the first exam in chunks. For example, after you read and study the math section of the book do the math section of the first test. Do the same with the verbal and writing sections. This REALLY helps the material sink in. Then once you've read the book and done the first test in chunks pick a day to do the second exam in its entirety. You'll have the material down pat after this. Good Luck.

Summary: Cracking the CBEST Helped Me Do Just That...
Review: This book more than prepared me for the CBEST. I literally soared through the exam. I finished the Math section of the CBEST in less than 2 hours.I purchased the book in hopes that it would help me improve my math score. (I had previously passed the Reading and Writing sections of the CBEST). Not only did I pass the Math portion of the CBEST but I scored very HIGH on the exam. I studied the Math section approximately 2 hours per day for seven days. When I took the test exactly one week after purchasing "Cracking the CBEST," I was elated. I was more than familiar with the math questions once I entered the test situation. This book deserves 10+ STARS! There are two practice tests in the math section of the book too which was very helpful. There are also practice tests for the Reading and Writing section to help prepare one for the exam. By the way ...my math skills were somewhat rusty. I hadn't used my math skills in over three years since graduating from college. I passed with flying colors. Now it is on to the MSAT! Summary: Great Prep
Review: This book was key to my passing the CBEST the first time. The example and practice test questions were very similar to the ones on the test - there were no surprises. The book not only reviewed important skills in math and reading, it also helped my learn how to take this kind of test, which reduced my anxiety greatly! It provides strategies for different kinds of questions, so you don't spend a lot of time with unnecessary calculations. I highly recommend it for anyone taking the CBEST.

Summary: This is the ONLY book you need!
Review: This book was the ONLY book I needed to pass the CBEST. The prep tests were really great but the BEST part about this book is the many tips it offers. I truly believe it was those tips that helped me pass. Some tips were simple, such as "answer ALL questions, even if it's only a guess" and other tips were more complex, such as ways to fully address the topic of an essay and how to manage your time so that you can pass all 3 sections in one sitting. Oh, and don't forget to take the 2 Practice tests! The questions were VERY similar to those on the actual test. BUY THIS BOOK! IT'S A GREAT INVESTMENT!!! (Then resell it or give it to a friend after you PASS!)
