Rating: Summary: Mandatory Reading For Anyone Who Cares About Education! Review: This book is a must read for anyone who wants to gain additional insight into the educational school system. It helps one understand the past to deal with today and prepare for tomorrow. Enjoyed it very much!
Rating: Summary: Historical View on Educational Issues Review: This book is an excellent resource for all aspiring educators and those who are just interested in educational topics. It provided an in-depth lok at major decisions relating to education without being boring and long. I highly recommend this book as a learning tool and as a reading pleasure.
Rating: Summary: Valuable Textbook Review: This is one of the most valuable textbooks I have ever used in a graduate or undergraduate course. The text is packed with very interesting information. It really lives up to its name. It provides historical and contemporary perspectives of school and society. The concluding remarks at the end of each chapter sums up the chapter and ties it to other chapters at the same time. I really enjoyed the closer looks the primary source reading at the end of each chapter provides.
Rating: Summary: School and Society Review: Tozer, Violas, & Senese did a thorough job in explaining the social and historical perspectives of education. The book, School & Society, seemed like an American history book at first. However, as I continued to read, I found that the book had great relevance to everyday life. Every teacher should read this book in order to understand the educational needs of students. The discussions of diversity and equity were of particular interest to me because it is an issue that teachers deal with everyday. Our society is diverse, and, as teachers, we need to understand where students are coming from. I found that the "Primary Source Readings" brought things into perspective.
