Rating: Summary: Save yourself hours and hours of work. Review: As a high school art teacher, I turn to this book every week. This is a book for the creative teacher, who needs recources and inspiration, not a didactic overproduction. Dense and rich with all the research you would have assigned your assistant, if you had one. Put your name on it, and don't lend it out!

Rating: Summary: Incredible Source for Beginning Art Educators Review: As an Art Educator preparing students to teach art in the K-12 ART room, I was thrilled to find this book! Helen Hume shares the invaluable information gained through her years of teaching in a very accessible form. I require this as a text for my Special Methods in Secondary Art Education class and my students go into their teaching internship with a valuable resource. This should be required in every art classroom. What I wouldn't have given for it when I started teaching 20 years ago!
Rating: Summary: Innovative and Practical Review: At first I was not sure about this book but when I began using the lesson plans and reproducing copies for students I realize how well it was put together. It has a section for Art History, Architecture, Ceramics, Sculpture, etc. Well Done!! I also found out that the author had another book which I also bought "A Survival Kit for the Secondary School Art Teacher" which gives many good ideas for the Middle School.
Rating: Summary: LOVE IT! Review: I am an art education master's student and I have been using this book a lot. The chapters cover everything from materials to vocabulary. It is only lacking website resources. I am glad I bought it.

Rating: Summary: LOVE IT! Review: I had wanted this book for some time, but thought it was a little pricey for a poor school teacher. Yea, PTA! I can't begin to say how many ways I use this book, and am always amazed.
Rating: Summary: a great Help just when I needed it most!! Review: The Book of Lists has been a saving grace to me...a just beginning high school teacher! I have been teaching ele art and middle school and have now jumped into 96 minute high school art classes and I need to fill every minute with interesting studies. This book is full of ideas. I love it !
Rating: Summary: Don't buy this book. Review: This book does not acknowledge the contributions of female artists. In the "lists" of "famous artists" and "artworks" there are 100 males to each female. It is obvious that the author subscribes to the long-accepted, western-male ideals of art exemplars. To give Helen D. Hume some credit, she does include a list of "feminist artists". It includes about 13 women, who are female. She mentions people of color, hispanics and native americans. She does not acknowledge gay and lesbian artists. Also, the information in this book is often trite, misinformed and incorrect. The lesson ideas are unoriginal. I did not like this book.
Rating: Summary: A must have for all art teachers! Review: This book is a wonderful book full of information for the art teacher. If I was to recommend one book for the beginning art teacher, this would be the one! Trust me on this one...
