Review: I'd better not. Reviewing Steve Griffin's law book without reading it years ago was probably bad enough ...

Summary: The Only Book You'll Need for Grad School
Review: This is an excellent overview of the entire graduate school experience. The book examines a variety of topics including reasons for pursuing graduate school, things you can do as an undergraduate to better your chances, the graduate school application process, managing your thesis committee, writing your thesis, dealing with stress, and finding a job. The book is easy to read and keeps you interested. Every chapter is backed up with plenty of personal stories on what to do and what not to do. The book is very inspirational and truly gave me a different perspective on graduate school, one that I had never considered. I would highly suggest this book to anyone who is even remotely interested in graduate school, especially if you're still in college. I always knew that I wanted to pursue graduate school and there are many tips that I could have used as an undergrad but didn't know about. I plan to keep this book by my side during graduate school and reread relevant sections as they arise. My only complaint about the book is that it is a bit out of date in regards to the Internet and computers.

Summary: I thought I knew
Review: I had talked to all sorts of people about graduate school, including many profs and PhDs, so I thought I knew what I was getting into. This book was able to bring it all together much better and in more depth than 75 disparate conversations could.

Get this book NOW. I wish I had read it years ago.

Summary: Excellent Practical Guide for Prospective Grad Students
Review: Peters has put together a wonderfully broad yet concise volume that addresses every area in the graduate school process. The book is exceptionally well organized and digestible. His recommendations are practical and on target. Although I knew some of the things he discusses, I gained some very valuable tips that will help make my graduate stint much better. I highly recommend this book to anyone considering graduate school.

Summary: Buy this book even you aren't thinking of grad school
Review: Thanks Robert for writing this book that dramatically changes my life -
Before read this book, graduate life is very vague to me and I do not really know what I want from graduate school. My college life was not very happy. I do not like professors either because I thought they were weird or just too busy to care about students. However, this book gives a very clear picture of what is going on in the mysterious graduate school. It teaches you to get ready of various troubles and challenges, such as dealing with your advisors, developing thesis, and most important at all, having a positive and happy life in graduate school and getting a good job after the degree. I read this book repeatedly right before I went to graduate school. Everything is just like what the book described and I planned everything according to the book. I get on the right track early and am progressing faster than my peers are, and graduate life becomes so enjoyable. I bought six copies of these books and gave to my best friends and sisters. No matter you want to go to graduate school or not, read this book first and keep it on your desk! I heartily recommend this book!

Summary: A Must Read for All Thinking About Grad School
Review: This probably the best book that I've found that describes the grad school process: from deciding why you want to go, to how to set up your office. Dr. Peters does a wonderful job at anticipating the questions one might have when one decides to go to grad school, from the economic to the psychological to the sociological. This book helped me affirm my commitment to getting my PhD, with a more realistic view of what is ahead.

When I become a faculty member and am put in charge of overseeing new graduate studens for a department, this is the one book that I will recommend to all the stduents. It is the best $... you'll ever spend.

Great book!
