Summary: Same old, same old.
Review: I must say, I've always enjoyed the writing of Dr. Adams. Perhaps that is because it was previously availible only in small, weekly doses.

The majority of this book seems devoted to rehashing any of a small handful of incidents. At first this gives the reader the impression that these incidents are of great importance (which they are), but eventually just becomes wearisome and boring.

Perhaps if I had not read anything by Dr. Adams previous to this book, I might have found it more enjoyable.

Summary: nutty stuff
Review: I remember losing respect for the teaching profession when I went to college. This book reminds me why. Things have gotten worse since I attended. At least Adams can portray our crisis in higher education with a sense of humor. He must not have majored in biology.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a scream
Review: I suppose that I liked the book because Adams says all those things I wanted to say in college. My humanities and "social science" classes were so absurd but you didn't dare saying anything to the professor who controlled your grade. Adams works with these people all the time and he just gives them hell. HE is too funny for words.

Summary: Sanity in the University
Review: I've probably read every column Mike's ever written. As soon as I discovered him, I went to his archives and have followed him ever since.

As one who first entered college in the 70's and later followed up for advancement in the 80's and 90's as a "non-trad", I can attest that those who once occupied the campus administration buildings by protest have finally occupied them by tenure! For the most part, those most entrenched at the campus are the same groups that never experienced anything outside of it!

Please note that the only negative review, so far, is "Scary Stuff". I find it interesting that it's written by an "anonymous" Canadian, who's ancestors were probably frightened off by those "radicals" that thought freedom was worth fighting for!!

Frightening Canadians, isn't necessarily a BAD thing. There's a reason we're different countries, it's called the Constitution.

Summary: Scary Stuff
Review: It is scary indeed to think that a gun-totin', right-wing nut case like Adams is allowed within a mile of a university campus!!! This book should be mandatory reading for any parent thinking about sending their child to his university. Aside from being based on the usual tired lies of the far right, this book is also dangerous in that it shows how to promote an extremist lifestyle among young students.

Crawl back under your rock "professor" Adams!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fresh and Revealing
Review: Professor Adam's lively collection of essays is a must-read for anyone interested in the liberal assault in higher education. He is funny, but more importantly, he is dead-on in his critique of the left trying to brain wash american's youth.

Summary: No Canadian Universities?!?!?!?!?
Review: Sean W. wrote "(To the reviewer who said that American universities don't qualify as "higher learning," why have I heard of no Canadian schools that match the renown of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and the like?)"

The answer is simple, your ignorance is why you have never heard of McGill University or Queen's University, both of which provide much higher degrees of education than most universities in the world. You might try looking outside the borders and you'll realize there is a whole world there - but then if you read the likes of Dr. Adams, I won't hold my breath waiting for you to take a broad view!!

Summary: dave barry meets ann coulter
Review: This book discusses important free speech issues. Adams writes a lot like Ann Coulter. However, the humorous spin he puts on weighty issues and the serious spin he puts on mundane issues distinguishes him. He is, in many ways, like Dave Barry.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: gifted writer
Review: This guy is a scream. Can turn a phrase with the best of them
