Review: I work for a medical society. Not having any medical training myself, I rely on Stedman's Medical Dictionary to help me edit and proofread text with medical terminology. Without it, I would not be able to do my job.

Review: One needs a medical dictionary anyway. So which one. I choose this one, because it's very handy, which I test by looking up certain old and new things to see, whether the book helps me on it, and because it's rather low price, and also because of the illustrations. But I would not buy any medical book, just because it's cheeper than another one, if it would not be on the highest standard. This book is perfect, if one uses it as a help while reading other medical material.

Review: Stedman's Medical Dictionary is a near-perfect lexicon that should serve the needs of anyone interested in medical language. With it, you are assured of simple but precise definition of terms. Although its biggest shortcoming is having fewer entries than the Dorland's, its colourful illustrative figures are far better than the black and white charts that the Dorland's boast of.

Review: Stedman's remains the best medical dictionary going --- so good in fact that it's also available as the PDR medical dictionary. The two books appear to have been printed from the same plates. So, if Stedman's isn't in stock, the PDR will do just fine.

Review: Stedmans is recognized as a leading dictionary in the medical community. Stedmans is great for looking up definitions for terms you don't know. However, some of the definitions are as confusing as the original terms for a non-medical person (attorney).

Summary: It's got it all!
Review: Studying pharmacy, I often come across huge medical terms that aren't in my scope of education. I do, however, need to know what they mean right now. Lucky for me, this dictionary is very comprehensive. There is an excellent word finder section and a very useful section on medical abbreviations, common symbols and all kinds of other helpful stuff.
The one drawback to this book is its size. It is a little big and heavy to cart around from school to home but other than that - the perfect assistant!

Review: This dictionary has many helpful features such as a well-illustrated color anatomy section, a large word-finder index, appendices of DRGs,blood groups, lab values, temperature scales, elements, symbols, and more. The inside cover details the many features contained in the definitions. The layout is easy to read. This also contains many illustrations and diagrams. This is an excellent medical reference book.

Summary: THE QUINTESSENTIAL MEDICAL DICTIONARY...
Review: This is a comprehensive, medical dictionary that is well organized and cross-referenced. Its use is made more interesting by the inclusion of etymologies. It is not, however, for doctors only. This veritable treasure trove of information is also a boon to lawyers. All who use it, however, should read the user's guide that is included with the book, in order to maximize its value.
