Summary: Hot Zone will scare you into reality!!!
Review: It's scary! It's fascinating! It's TRUE! What will we face in the future? Hot Zone gives us a taste of some of the most deadly enemies we will face as world-wide travel becomes more accessible. The lethality of these micro-organisms are incredible. And most of all, the story told is true. Yes, an outbreak of the lethal Ebola virus in Virginia is told with remarkable accuracy, and the Army is called to action to respond with their first rapid deployment pathology team. Filled with action and chilling facts.

Summary: Excellent book for the curious and medical researchers alike
Review: Well written sometimes in a fashion designed to shock but it gets the message over about some of the truly horrifying emerging viruses that live in the depths of the rain forests. Well documented case histories which future medical researchers will find fascinating and quite rewarding if they plan further study. Very difficult book to put down after getting to Chapter 2. This is certainly a masterpiece of accurate, tantalising, horrific, dramatic writing about a true story that is still going on today.

Summary: Reality is a little too scary for me!
Review: Anyone looking for a true scary novel should read this book. It will awake you to the fact that nature produces things that are just as scary as the mind can imagine. I never realized just how close we (Washington, D.C.) came to a huge breakout of a hot virus. I am frequently in Reston, VA and had know idea how close I, and many others, were to a deadly virus. If you like books like The Adromina Strain or The Stand. This is a must read.

Summary: Riveting
Review: Never before have I been so intrigued with the startling truths about biological agents. Before I read this book my imagination and knowledge regarding our perlious times of world doomsday was somewhat limited. As a recomendation from a friend, I devoured this book with such interest. Preston managed to capture my attention and direct me towards the subsequent pages that followed, few authors have managed that. I recomend this book to anyone in search of a thrilling ride, and a scarring reality.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: I don't understand why so many people love this book.
Review: I really don't. Preston's style is rather tedious and doesn't do justice to a fascinating topic. I do like how his images all give the reader a sense of doom; it seems that one could catch Ebola from anything in Africa. However, it does not make up for Preston's boring style.

Summary: Terrifying Realistic, a Real Education
Review: Having known very little about viruses and, probably typical for an American, believing that it was some other country's problem this was a real eye-opening,no holds barred brilliant piece. If you have a teenager whining about nothing to read, give them "The Hot Zone."

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Chilling- This is the real world of viruses
Review: A wonderfully researched, accurate look at the inside and scary world of viral research. Even more interesting to me personally to know a few of the characters mentioned. Forget Nuclear Weapons, viruses are the biggest threat to our existence on this planet.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It was amazing because it is a true story.
Review: I loved the book. It was horrifying but I still loved it. The events occured about fifteen minutes from where I live so it made it even more real for me. My mother didn't want me to read it at first but I convinced her to let me. I'm glad that I did and I reccomend it to all my friends.

Summary: Gripping, non-fiction account of the deadly Ebola virus
Review: This book was so suspenseful and frightening, that I had to keep looking at the title page to be sure it was non-fiction. This is the first book I've read by Richard Preston, and needless to say I'm hooked. It is frightening to realize how little scientists know about the origin of deadly diseases, and how they are spread. Africa is clearly a hotbed of the new plagues, and the CDC and the government have a long way to go in conducting life saving research. Makes you think twice about buying your kids an exotic pet!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent thriller
Review: The Hot Zone was an excellent discription of the Ebola and Marbug viruses. It was thrilling and VERY intersting.
