Summary: Greatest narcissist of our time spews laughable bromides
Review: There is nothing here that you haven't already read in Trump's previous self-admiration tomes. What does Trump know about getting rich anyway? He was born rich --- unless he he is giving advice to enterprising sperm everywhere, there is no point in his presuming to be an authority in this area.

Other than Trump blowing his own horn, there is precious little practical advice to be found, just hackneyed generalized advice. Buy low, sell high --- I guess you could call that advice, but what can you do with that?

Raising this to an even more absurd level is the news this month that Trump's company is bogged down under almost 2 billion dollars in debt. Evidently Trump's advice doesn't include "don't leverage yourself excessively" and "learn from your earlier mistakes." If most of us truly conducted our financial affairs in the style of the Donald, we would be living out of a box on a heat grate.

One step towards financial success would be to check this book out of the library, rather than wasting money buying it at the store. Better yet, just sit down in the library for maybe 30 minutes and skim through the book without checking it out. It isn't as though you will be missing any hidden nuggets.

Summary: The secret to getting rich.
Review: You want to know how to get rich? I'll tell you right now. Step one: become a billionaire. Step two: establish the smallest crumb of credibility in the public by having your own TV show. Step three: write a self-help book and sell it to the average Joe Sucker who thinks that he can get rich by buying a book that some other rich guy wrote. If you want to skip steps one and two, you may be able to still accomplish step three, but it's not advised.

Summary: Will Disappoint Business Minds, More of the People Mag Fans
Review: This is an interesting, light read which I enjoyed. The personal stories and savvy advice are something that I found as a general overview rather than the more strategic information that I'm sure most people were expecting.

For hardened business people, this book will disappoint. But I found it to be more informative and interesting than say the "One Minute Manager" books or the "Fish" business books which sell for also the same price and are less than 100 pages.

"How to Be Rich" looks like something that was slapped together quickly to take advantage of the Apprentice show's popularity. I really wished that Trump and the editors of Random House would have held back on this and had more quality control.

The book has been fatten up with pictures and a lot of spacing to make this 244 page book look bigger in content than it really could be. It has more like 144 pages of information and could have sold for $15 instead. I guess someone needed the money, right?

All in all, this is an okay book that is easy to read. And fans of the Apprentice who really aren't searching for groundbreaking financial advice and just want a little time with the Donald will find this an enjoyable read.

Since the price of the book kind of bugs me, that's telling me that I need to make more money!!!

Summary: A Likeable Guy
Review: Very little in this book specifies how to get rich. I did think the book was worth it, simply because Donald Trump is very gutsy, not being afraid to name names. He's the first celebrity I am aware of, that actually has the guts to confront the View's Joyce Behar -- I always thought it would be useless to write the View to complain about how cruel and distasteful she can be, stereotyping her fellow Italians, cynically exploiting anyone's misery just to get a laugh, plus her inexplicable vanity (when in reality she must know since school-age, she is no beauty, and yet her co-hosts tediously seem to have to reassure her often, how gorgeous she looks -- Money, fame really may warp self-awareness). Her shortsightedness -- receiving Trump's goodnatured forgiveness over her catty comments about his hair, and then soon after, continuing to ridicule him. She can't complain now that she is forever immortalized by Trump as "talentless." This book shows Trump definitely has self-awareness, the ability to know his virtues and defects, accepting both with an appealing honesty. He does not suffer fools lightly. One exception -- He did not get his money's worth with his ghost writer, a staff member of his organization. The prose was deadly, the arrangement unimaginative, the editing was weak, allowing Trump to repeat the same sentences ad nauseum, for example. Still, a light, good beach read for the summer -- Trump's sense of humour is enjoyable. It really seems as if, while he deals with the rich, buys like the rich, lives like the rich, knowing he must squire the obligatory trophy-girlfriend (you just know he knows he is never going be really settled and happy until he finds someone with the similar, low-maintenance, homemaker wifely traits his mother had) and knowing he must impress clients with gold-ceiling homes -- he really is not OF the rich. He's basically a down-to-earth person, delighting in snack food, missing his late parents, and who needs his children around him. Trump, very interesting person.

Summary: Excellent Resource for Information on Business
Review: As they say, give a man a fish he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat a lifetime. That's exactly what The Donald is doing with any of his books, teaching and instructing. I found this book to have some very good points and traits in it to which I'm implementing in my daily life. If you're looking for a get rich quick scheme, this isn't the book for you. If you're looking for ways to approach business and deals and necessary tools for daily life, read this book.

Summary: SHOCKED!
Review: As the webmaster and creator of the ultimate Miss Universe pageant fan (www.missuniversecritic.com), I read the book because I wanted to more about Trump as the owner of Miss Universe. Trump speaks much about perfection, however, the book is hardly perfect. Imagine my horror when I saw a photo of Trump, along with the judges for the 1999 Miss Universe pageant and the winner herself, Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana. However, when you read the caption underneath the photo, it says that the winner's name is "Wendy Fitzwilliam" who happens to be Mpule's predecessor! When the Donald finds out about this major boo-boo, I can't wait for him to tell his researcher: "You're fired!" Then the Donald calls me up to say: "Rafael, you're hired!" Hee-hee!

Summary: How Trump Got Rich
Review: This book does not live up to its title. The book is called "Trump: How to Get Rich". In reality, it should be "Trump: Some Random Thoughts". If you're expecting Donald Trump to come out and say, "Follow these steps, and you will become rich", you will be disappointed.

That being said, for what it is, it is not a bad book. Mind you, it's not really worth $22 US ($30 CDN), but it's an interesting read for those who want some insights into Donald's daily routine.

The book seems to be broken into several distinct parts. The first section is random thoughts on leadership and entrepreneurship. The second section contains some tips on negotiation. The third section contains an hour-by-hour account of a week in the life of Trump. The last section contains some thoughts on the Apprentice. (One interesting tidbit: the boardroom used in the show is actually a "set", and is on the same floor as the contenstants suite. So when the contestant not fired uses the elevators to go "up to the suite", they actually go nowhere.)

All in all, it might be worth a browse if you are a great Trump fan. Otherwise, I'd suggest a pass.

Summary: How to get rich by selling yourself
Review: No one does a better job than "the Donald" on self-promotion. He'll certainly try to make you believe in his bluster by the end of the day. And that's his big secret to getting rich in a nutshell. Create a false illusion and get people to buy into it. This book was inconsistent, awkward and too self-involved to be of use to anyone seriously interested in making money. I thought I would be getting a manual of sorts and instead ended up with a name-dropping, self-stroking autobiography that half-attempts to justify ruthless and shameless business tactics. Donald Trump is also hardly self-made and for me that fact detracts from his 'acclaimed' business savvy. I would be more interested in reading accounts of his father's business ventures. The only saving grace to this book is Donald's sense of humor which makes for somewhat entertaining reading. But how to get rich? Not with this book! I guess I didn't buy into the illusion this time.

Summary: Weak on content, strong on empty advice
Review: I love success stories, and I've read a lot of business books. As a fan of the Apprentice show, I was really hoping for a decent book. However, I was very disappointed with a book that appears to have been conceived, written, and published within the last 6 weeks.

The book is filled with empty quotes that make even the worst feel-good spam email seem deep. Halfway through the book, I realized that I hadn't learned a thing beyond "do your best" or "hire qualified people".

If you are a small business owners or an entrepreneur, spend the same money on "E-Myth" instead. If you want a book on The Donald, I liked "The Art of the Deal".
