Rating: Summary: Effective Review: I study for only one week, just this book and passed the test with a score of 76.... thanks James
Rating: Summary: Becoming Outdated, Needs Improvement Review: I suppose if you studied this book exclusively and well, you would pass the marketing exam, as it is comparitively easy. I also used a modern college text and was very glad. For example, the actual exam may have plenty of questions regarding internet marketing, which is not covered. The book is weak covering marketing research and the terminology / definitions are becoming dated. I found a significant portion of the sample questions to be poor/mediocre. I would score 72 percent on those, but aced the actual exam (79/80).
Rating: Summary: Useful tool for studying Review: I used this book as my sole preparation for the Marketing CLEP test. While the book has a lot of information, it is broken down into well organized sections to help you focus on areas you may need more help on. The practice tests were helpful but I thought the answer explanations could have been better written. Overall, I thought this was a very useful tool for preparing for the test. However, when I took the test I thought the book had focused in some areas to much on trival information.
Rating: Summary: Not Entirely Complete but It Works Review: I used this book to prepare for the exam and it worked. If I had known how easy this was, I would have CLEPed out of many more classes. You just have to be aware that you should complete the entire book before taking the exam. I summarized the review on sheets of paper for easy reference, and started answering the questions on this book. There are 3 exams on this book. Another piece of advice, do the questions in blocks of 25. Each exam has 100 questions. If you split the exam into blocks of 25 and go through the answers after completing 25 questions, you will find grasping the concepts easier. I found the real exam much easier. Also, ignore the test day advice, the exam is completely computerized, aand you will see your results right after the exam. GOOD LUCK!!
Rating: Summary: Clep Study guide for the principles of marketing exam. Review: I would not recommend using this book to study for the Clep exam. I have found that a Marketing text book sold at any college bookstore to be more useful. I feel that I did well on the exam due to reading and reviewing the textbook. The study guide contained only approximately 10% of the information that was on the test.
Rating: Summary: A Solid Review Text Review: I'm fast becoming a CLEP veteran, and have used several study guides from different companies. This REA guide (mine was copyright 2001) provided a light section on the principles of marketing. This provided some basic information on marketing, however it is the sample tests that really provide the key to passing the CLEP! I have read others complain that the questions on the test were not in the text. I just took the CLEP and several questions from the sample tests were on the actual test VERBATIM! The sample tests don't just give the answer, but also a detailed explanation on way the answers are right or wrong. No study guide will provide all of the answers, or make you a subject expert, but this one provided enough information to enable me to score a high score. My humble advice... read the text, and study the sample tests!
Rating: Summary: Great test prep Review: It is worth the price simply for the practice exams. I used this and Barron's Marketing study guid and aced the CLEP It gets revised JUNE 30, so dont wait and take the test now!
Rating: Summary: Get's the job done Review: It's enought for you to pass, but there were a few questions on the test not covered in the book. It may be slightly outdated (written in '98) but it's probably the best book to help you prepare for the MKT CLEP Exam. I scored a 61, needed a 48.
Rating: Summary: 4 hours of quick >>focused<< skimming is all one needs Review: Opened the book ~5 hours before test time and passed with ranking to spare to receive 'A' level credit. One tip would be to not answer questions you would be just guessing at (ie percentage likely right < 50) as these count 'more' negative than simply not answering the question.
Rating: Summary: very good study aid Review: The book is right on point. I read it in four days and passed with a 58.
