Summary: 50/50
Review: I don't recommend this book, unless you can't get the book by the Princeton Review ("Cracking the AP Chemistry Advanced Placement Examination"). There were many errors in the book, and the material is not covered as well as the previous mentioned. I would only use this book as a last resort, or as a supplement to the Princeton Review's or even Kaplan's books.

Summary: So Many Mistakes-NOT RELIABLE
Review: I have a lot to say on THIS BOOK. Although this book was useful for cramming info into my brain, I hated all the mistakes that were so often found throughout the book. Besides, the practice tests they give you is harder than the real AP. I would NOT recommend this book to you. (I got a five on the test)

Summary: A great study book for AP Chem students
Review: I reccomd the book for all AP Chem students. The book was a great help for foe reviewing for the test.

Summary: What to waste money???
Review: I saw one of my friends using this book, so I brought it. It is just too much to read about, and most of them are just useless. It will never been on the AP Chemistry: I Promise You. By the way, don't buy Barron's SAT II Math IIC. The reason is same as AP Chemistry, way off the topic in the test!!!

Summary: Very recommended!
Review: I took AP Chemistry and although my teacher was good, he could not explain certain concepts such as Redox!! I found this book was very useful in REVIEWING concepts (not for learning new things) as it explained things quite clearly and simply. Certain information is not important, but if used effectively, this book is excellent. The book offers a lot of AP style questions after each section, which are very helpful, but the explanations to the answers are not good. They merely tell the answer, instead of explaining them, which is the worst aspect of the book. However, it has many review techniques which are useful, especially practice exercises and questions. I recieved a five on the AP exam, and although this book is not the only thing that got it for me, it was extremely helpful in reviewing before the exam. I would also use this for reviewing during the year for tests! However, if you wait until the day before the exam, any book you use, no matter what, will not get you the grade, so start at least two weeks early and do a few chapters a day. I hope this review was helpful and GOOD LUCK with AP CHEM!

Summary: excellent preparation (esp. psychologically)
Review: I'd actually rather give it 4.5 because it had too many typos (just like the answer key saying it was B and then the actual answer in the explanation would be D and stupid mistakes like that which really irritated me).
However, yes, this book does go into quite a bit of depth which is great when my textbook skimped out on information. And their organic chem section was way too detailed.
And yes, the tests are MUCH MUCH MUCH harder than the actual AP exam. Which is why I liked it so much! I hate Princeton Review's AP books which are sooo incredibly easy and then the real AP exams are several times harder. That does NOT prepare you at all for the AP exam. That's fooling you into a delusional comfort only to kill you viciously on the AP exam day.
Never so with Barron's. Sure, they give you lots of extraneous material, but believe it not, a lot of that, particularly their Experimental Chemistry section can come amazingly in handy on AP exam day. And plus, just surviving the horrifically hard Barron's tests will make you think that the AP exam is a joke.
Between Barron's brutal but very efficient preparation and my beloved, absolutely genius of a TF at Harvard Extension, I, who put hardly any effort into Chem class, got a 5 on the AP.

Summary: No AP Chem Student Should Be Without This Book
Review: I'm serious too. The guy who found this book tediously long is only saying that 'cause he hadn't taken the test before he wrote his review. But for me, the test is over, and as a reflection, I don't know what I would have done without this book. Seriously, I had an awesome AP Chem teacher. I mean, his homework and test questions were harder than the ones on the actual AP exam, but this book helped so incredibly much.

As I was working through this book, I quelled my dissapointment of missing about half the questions at the end of each chapter and in the sample tests by assuring myself of the fact that Barron's is known for its harder than actual thing type simulations. Not this book. The test was totally hard, but luckily, not harder than the sample tests in this book. If you want an accurate representation of the actual AP test, I strongly recommend this book. And, if you're thinking of getting the Princeton Review, DO NOT buy it without buying this book as well. I was hardely missing a question at the end of the chapters with that book and the sample tests were assuring me of high fives. It was just insanely easy. Also, it screwed me over on one of the free response questions(I wrote like a page for part i of part a and ran out of the time for the rest of the question). For some miraculous reason, I still ended up with a five, but now that I look back, it wasn't so much of a miracle. I was just prepared because I bought this book at the beginning of the year and I recommend that you do the same. It doesn't work miracles unless you use it, but if you do, I think that you'll find it a very helpful guide for the incredibly hard AP test(and yes, it is a VERY hard test).

Summary: Better than reading the Textbook
Review: If you think this book is boring, try reading your textbook! I found this book extremely helpful before chapter tests in Kinetics, Equilibirium, and other topics. I majorly slacked off after March and did not do homework or review at all, however, I pulled out a 4 because I knew the material I had studied. Buy this book, even if you read only one chapter.

Summary: yikes...
Review: okie...normally i wouldnt bother to write a review b/c i reallie dont care. however, i thought that this book was TERRIBLE so i felt obligated to write something abt it. if you're not the studious type and you're hoping that w/ the help of this book, you're going to get a 5 on the AP, then i suggest that you go find another book. if you dont want to read a detailed book and you just want an outline of AP chem, then this is the book for you. this book was too vague for me. it didnt have as much info as i expected. it's was impossible for me to find the topic that i wanted to look up and that's not b/c i'm stupid and cant find it but that they have a reallie bad index. reaction writing is a question that you must answer in part ii and i was hoping to get some practice on it. it took a while but i finally found it, and even then, it was not helpful. they didnt reallie give any practice problems for you to do. actuallie, there wasnt any reaction writing in the book. all they had was the types of reaction, which was vaguely covered. in addition to all this, there were mistakes in the book. the question asks for potassium and in the answer, they used sodium. this is just one of the MANY mistakes that was in the book. of course, you dont have to listen to me. i'm not trying to make you not buy this book. however, i wanted you to know that it's not the greatest book in the world. i decided to buy this book b/c of the reviews pplz gave it. many pplz have said that this book was so great and so helpful. unfortunately, i believed them. big mistake! i reallie regret buying this book but since i already wrote in it, i cant return it. you can ignore me and buy this book if you want to cuz i'm not stopping you. i'm just telling you that you have other options. this is not the only review book for AP chem.

Summary: Good book to review with
Review: The review chapters in this book were really helpful - they were simple and concise, but had all the important information in them. I also found the explanations for why the right answers are right to be very helpful as well.
