Review: This book took me from knowing virtually NO MATH AT ALL to having a pretty solid understanding of Algebra. I really wish I had read this book prior to taking the SAT's a few years ago. I just found this book so easy to read... not at all like the tired and boring textbooks I suffered through in high school... at no point in this book did I feel like "i have no clue whats going on". If you want to learn math from the beginning... get this book!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great help for relearning algebra Review: This book, together with Algebra Unplugged, has bolstered my confidence, as I return to school after many years, for my MBA. Not having taken a math class in 30 years, my skills were beyond rusty. Algebra Unplugged is a light-hearted look at algebra concepts and was a great start, but I needed a book that would give me sample problems to work on and this book fit the bill. I'm nearly done with it and feel just about ready to tackle the math challenges ahead of me. (But first, I need to re-learn more advanced material, like Trig, before I hit the Calculus for Managers class.)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Comforting, useful, and even fun! Review: This is a fantastic book. Like many other reviewers, I had to study for a math placement exam, and hadn't taken math in about 15 years ... pretty nervous about the whole thing. I bought this book about a month before the test, worked through the examples, and did much better than expected on the exam (somehow placed into Trig!).The strengths of this book are its friendly, nonintimidating tone, its step-by-step format, and its thoroughness. I actually had fun with it, which was a surprise. This book is an excellent, cheap investment which will pay off many times if you really apply yourself and do the problems.
