Summary: A review for Biology (Cliffs AP)
Review: This book is extremely helpful. The materials represented in it is closely associated with the 2004 AP test. The diagrams are similar to the ones that are actually on the AP test. It summarizes all the important details with brilliant organization and demonstrates a comprehensive review of lab component. I got a 5 on the exam, just like the practice test predicted. This is an indispensable tool for any scholar.

Summary: Just facts
Review: This book is simply a collection of facts turned into vague questions. It has hardly any detailed explanations. Just facts. I mean, how much can someone memorize without understanding? And we soon tend to forget memorized facts.

Summary: One Great Book!
Review: This book is the best AP Biology review manual that I found. I actually went to the bookstore and looked at the ones from The Princeton Review, Barron's, and a couple others. This book was by far the best one that I found. I then went and bought this book on Amazon.com becuase it was cheaper here.

I just took the AP last May (May 16, 2001) and I would recommend this book to everyone. The summaries are in-depth with just the right amount of detail. They also had a review of all the required labs. But as always, you should do some checking around and take a look at all of them. Check the date that they were published too. By the way, I got a 5 (out of 5) on the AP.

Summary: Great book: If you paid some attention in class
Review: This book is very good for test preperation for A.P. BiologĂ˝. I paid attention in class, but forgot most of the boring lectures that i had to face in class. I purchased this book a good 3 weeks before the A.P. test and went through at a steady pace. This book provided a good review, and was not very comprehensive, but it did its job.Once i finished, i took some of my old practice tests out and tried to finish them. When i started the multiple choice, the material in the book (the book included diagrams, and practice tests) provided the framework for LOGICALLY answering the questions. The book was very helpful for the essay section of the test, as it included essays for every single chapter. I completed the essay portion with ease, and it turns out that i received a 5 on the test. If zou follow the steps that i took, and zou are a hard worker, i guarentee that zou will get a 4 or a 5.

Summary: good enough for me
Review: this book should be used as a guide in your studying. i recommend going over your class notes- and if you have them- the study guides that go with the cambell book. But dont crack this book open the night before and expect results. The ap test can be specific and general at the same time. This book was a basic summary of the cambell book- and if you want to get a 5 start using this book in like march and due like two or three chapters and quizzes a day. Dont wait till the last minute!!!

Summary: Great Review Book
Review: This book, like most review books, is good to study from as a supplementary source to textbooks. This is the BEST review book, slightly better than Barrons. The Barron's has slightly more information, but this book breaks everything down into simple steps. Again, I highly recommend this book over any others, but it CANNOT be used as a primary source of study.

Summary: top dog of the prep books
Review: this book..is great. it has all the review you need, compacted in a pretty easy and understandable format. the practice test in the back is accurate--not too easy, and not too hard--although i like taking practice tests that are harder so that it trains your brain. the quizzes after each section is great. i recommend using this book along with the mcgraw-hill 5 steps to a 5 book. if you have a lot of time, i also recommend buying the thinkwell biology software. it is like a textbook on a computer, much more interesting than reading from those big fat ap biology books. the princeton review book is too vague and contains only enough details to get you a 2 or a 3. the kaplan book is so-so, no major raves on that one. good luck!

Summary: Good enough
Review: This is a good book, the price also makes it a good deal. The summaries are detailed and will help you a great deal. This book CAN'T be used as a substitute to reading the textbook. The nature of the subject of Biology is that there are so many details that pretty much every sentence in the text has a vocabulary word. This book has great summaries when it comes to general concepts. If you're having trouble telling the difference between all kinds of hereditary terms this one will be helpful, can't remeber the biochemical cycles? It has neat diagrams and flow-charts.
Overall, a great buy, as long as you use it as an aid not a textbook

Summary: Great Review Book
Review: This is a great AP Biology review book. It cuts the fat and gets straight to the point so that you're only studying what you need to know for the test. My only complaint is the graphics. Many of the graphics were confusing; I would recommend reviewing your class textbook for graphics. It's good to have an image of the different systems and cells in your mind before the test.

Summary: for the procrastinator
Review: This is a very good review book. It is fairly small, but full of information. Unlike many other ap bio books, this has explanations for the labs (which are crucial in the ap test). It is also categorized, so you can just flip to the section you need the most help on instead of wasting time reading topics you are already familiar with. The practice test seems easy, but focuses on what you need to know for the test. Everyone in my class bought this book because our teacher wasn't so good. I waited until the weekend before the test to read it. I ended up just skimming through it and doing the practice test. The questions and the essay at the end of each of the section are pretty much a way of giving the reader a condensed summary of the section. I mostly just read the essays at the end of the section because of my lack of time to read the section. Every student in my class got a 4 or 5, only because of the book not the teacher who only got us to chapter 5 in a book that contained 35 chapters. I personally got a 4, if I read the whole book, I think I would have gotten a 5. This book has everything you need to pass the test. Definitely recommended.
