Summary: It's just that great
Review: It's better than its Kaplan counterpart. It's easy to understand and has what you need to know. The figures in the text are easy to understand and reinforce the explainations. Get this book. Now there are many factors that go into getting a 5. The review book is not the only factor. So when people say, "I got a five because of this book," they are either lying or ignorant. The two main factors I have found are: is the teacher hard and demanding, yet cares for his students? You may not like how they teach, but come test day you'll be glad. Number two is: Do you actually read the text and take notes? You kind of have to do this. If your bio book is still in the original skrink wrap then you're in trouble. Don't get a complex that you're the best at biology, it will screw you over. I got a 5 and this book helped, but was not an overwhelming factor.

Summary: The BEST AP Bio Book
Review: My AP biology class did not cover half of what was going to be tested on the exam, nor did we do any of the labs. But using the Cliffs guide I scored a 5 on the exam with ease, and understood the labs better than my friends in other schools who had done them. My brother used this guide and also scored a 5. The book covered exactly what was on the exam, in a no frills no bs manner.
For AP Bio the only book you need is this book.

Summary: All you ever need
Review: My school does not even have an AP biology class; yet with the help of this book I received a 5 on the Biology exam. It is very compact and direct, and the practice questions were more difficult than on the actual exam (a good thing). It also provided sufficient detail to make the concepts more concrete and memorable. This book is a must for quick review, and followed right along with my textbook (I recommmend Neil Campbell's BIOLOGY).

Summary: Get this book and study it to get the 5.
Review: Overall, this is the best AP summary book I have bought. The practice questions and practice exams are very close to what you see on the AP bio exam. In fact, two or three of the free response questions I saw on test day on the 2003 exam were in the Cliffs book in practically the exact form. This book is a great reference for future biology courses because it is concise and only includes the essentials. The pictures and diagrams are extremely useful. I will definitely continue to use this book even to study for the MCAT. I would go as far as to say you can easily get a 5 on the AP bio exam by studying from this book in place of taking a high school AP bio class. Overall a great purchase.

Summary: Phillip Pack is an excellent author for this book
Review: The Cliffs AP biology was an outstanding study guide that was very clear and concise in explaining the subject. It purged our the extraneous components of the subject and taught what biology was really about. i studied this book for 3 weeks and i did very well on my college level examination tests and in class. its in-depth coverage of important topics and pictures that corresponded with it made this book an effective source in understanding biology. the pratice tests in the back with answers and explanations also facilitated and corrected any misconceptions that i had in mind of the subject. overall, this is a great book that teaches you almost everything you need to know to become a good biology student. thank you Mr. Pack for writing this great book.

Summary: Two Paths to getting a 5
Review: There are two paths to getting a 5 in the AP Biology exam. One involves paying attention to teacher all year and reading the huge Biology textbook (Campbell's) trying to remember as much as possible. This works if you have a good long term memory or efficient reviewing techniques. The second path (which I took) involves buying this book a month and a half before the exam. I read a chapter daily during Spring break and then one every weekend prior to the exam. I'm sure my teacher was impressed when I got a 5 after scoring a 62 percent on her midterm.

Summary: Best One
Review: This book basicly carried to a 5 on the AP test. I had the huge Campbell book, read the first chapter and didn't like it. This dislike basicly led me to bury it in my locker, covered by trash and other stuff. With a week left I decided to skim my Cliffs book. All in all, about 4 hours total reading was enough for me to get the 5 (I was in a bio class, so that was probibly worth something, but our teacher was more or less inept so Cliffs notes is basicly really awesome).

Summary: A Biology Major's Recommendation
Review: This book is both a wonderful resource for the AP Biology exam AND as a class supplement to both High School and Introductory College Biology classes! As a senior in high school I found this book while hunting for AP Bio Test Prep Supplies and bought it right away! It had everything I wanted:

-Easy to understand overviews of test subjects
-Practice tests
-AP Bio Experiment outlines and results
-Essay questions
-Tips for taking exams
and more!

Using it as a study supplement I was able to get a 5 on my AP Biology exam, and, surprisingly, an A on my Biology final exam as well! I liked it so much that I brought it with me to college and used it to study for all of my Introductory Biology classes as well!

As a Biology Major I have found this book to be an invaluable tool. I've gotten so much use out of this one book and feel that I have definitely more than gotten my money's worth. I would recommend it highly as not only an AP Test Prep book, but to anyone who wants to get a clearer understanding of General Biology at either the High School or College level.

Summary: This book is the Bio Bible
Review: This book is ESSENTIAL if you plan to get a high grade on the AP bio test. Everyone in my class bought a copy of it and, so far, all of us have gotten a four or better on the exam. I got a C in my bio course, but I got a five on the exam because I read every page of this book and reviewed all of the tests. Use this book about 1 1/2 months before you take the exam and even if you've kind of slacked off the whole year (like me) you, too, can get a five. This book is the best bio book out there and is absolutely necesary.
