Summary: Grrrrrreat
Review: A wonderful resource for review purposes
but do not take this book as a first-time teaching guide
while it is very detailed, it is not very explanatory (if that makes sense). Basically, it gives you info on detailed topics, but explains them in a way to trigger your memory and make you remember, rather than learn, the concepts
All AP test takers should get this
also good for people taking AP Bio who don't have time to review before an exam.

Summary: Best review possible
Review: Although I didn't use every other review book before taking my AP test last year, I feel as though I can honestly say there is no way any of the other books could be any better. It helped me get a 5 even though our class only made it through 1/3 of the material over 7 weeks of education. Nearly everyone in my class failed the test, but I got a 5. If that isn't proof that this book is amazing, I don't know what else you want to hear.

Summary: If you need a 5 on the AP test
Review: Aside from my AP class, this is the MOST comprehensive AP Biology study guide book. If you read the book thoroughly, you will at least get a 3 guaranteed. I've tried other study guide books like Barron's, Princeton Review, and REA, but this is the best.

Summary: Dude, don't even take the test without this!
Review: Boy, this book rule! this book has very concise but significant and essential amount of detailed description followed by awesome questions that are cogently explained. At first, I struggled in AP class but as soon as I got the book, I got 100 on the test and I am rocking the class! Dude, no question, buy this! There is a smaller version of this book. Buy one of them immdeately! Either one can be used as a replacement to your textbook!

Summary: Best Book for the AP Biology Test
Review: Cliff's AP Biology (2nd Edition) is comprehensive and informative--covering everything you will need for the AP test and for use throughout the year in your AP Biology class (it makes a great review before class tests!). I would highly recommend this book, as it helped me achieve a 5 on my AP Biology test this past year. The book includes:

~Detailed sections focusing on varying concepts with review questions after each section--very useful!

~Two complete practice tests at the end of the book to make sure you are thoroughly prepared for the AP test.

~Finally, the book covers the details regarding all 12 labs that may appear on the AP test.

During study sessions with my friends, who had Barron's, Princeton Review, or simply a text book to review from, we all agreed that Cliff's was a necessity; Barron's (6th Edition) was too detailed with obscure information, lacked "big picture concepts," and was ultimately frustrating with its typos and confusing diagrams. Princeton Review (2002-2003 Edition) lacked the information necessary for the AP test and missed important concepts.

In all, I highly recommend Cliff's AP Biology book for AP class tests and/or for the AP test.

Summary: Excellent AP Book
Review: Cliffs AP Biology is BY FAR the best AP Biology book on the market. No other book comes close!
This book is concise, effective and comprehensive at the same time. While other books use 4-10 pages to go over one topic (like photosynthesis), Cliffs AP covers the same material in 2-3 pages! The material is written in a simple and easy to understand fashion and comes complete with diagrams, pictures, charts and bolding, which make it simple to learn.
Not only that, the book covers lab and has a FULL practice exam.
The one thing i loved about this book was that after each section, there were 10-20 "review quiz" problems over the section which came complete with essay topics.
I bought this book approximatly 1 week before the AP Biology exam. In class we were using the Cambells Biology book (wonderful), and i read the Cliffs AP book, did the practice problems, and got a 5 EASILY!

Simply put, Cliffs AP Biology is the ONLY AP BIO book you will need.

Summary: Best AP Biology Prep Book
Review: For students taking AP biology, I highly recommend Cliff's AP Biology prep book. The book covers the most important aspects of biology that students are responsible for knowing on the AP exam. It also serves as a useful supplement to their textbook as it explains difficult material clearly. The diagrams included in the book are easy to understand and help students with important concepts such as metabolism. Because it it often difficult to cover the entire AP curriculum, I was pleased to that Cliff's had included an additional chapter on labs. Each chapter includes multiple choice and free response questions which are important for practice. A full length practice test can be found at the end of the book. It is a good idea to take this test but be sure you take it timed. The questions in this book more closely match the types of questions that students are likely to see on the AP test as compared to other biology prep books. This is important because it gives students a reasonable idea of how they might score on the actual test. In addition to Cliff's, I also have REA and Princeton's Review. As an AP biology teacher, I find those useful as a source of questions, however, I would suggest that students first purchase Cliff's and if they can purchase only one prep book, Cliff's is the one to buy. The book will not magically get you a 5 on the exam; you will have to study. I do not recommend substituting this book for your textbook; instead use it as a supplement. For students who are motivated to do well in AP biology, there is no doubt that Cliff's is an excellent resource.

Summary: Very Good Book
Review: I came here a year ago to buy a book and looked at all the reviews for Bio books and saw that this was the one. And after studying it, I got a 5 on the exam! It really DOES help and is an exemptional review tool.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good Review Book
Review: I got a 4 on the AP Biology test, and it's thanks to this book that I didn't get a lower score. I was unfortunate enough to have a teacher that I really couldn't learn from, she would lecture on about one topic and never teach anything else. I turned to CliffsAP for help.

The book makes the information easy to understand, and contains a fair about of review questions (about 20 after each chapter). I'd bombed the mitosis/meosis test we took before I got this book, but when I was studying for the AP test I read their section on meosis and suddenly it all made sense. The book helped me to really understand and grasp the topics we needed to learn on the test. I'd definitely recommend this book.
