Summary: Crucial for beginners
Review: This book is dense with information and cannot be approached lightly. I read "New Market Wizards" in one week but this book took two months. As usual, the effort expended is proportional to the benefit received. In particular, the chapter on "Real Life Chart Analysis" is worth the price, and should be three times longer. There, Mr. Schwager shares two dozen of his own real-life trades, accompanied by the charts and technical analysis he used at the time. The reader is given the opportunity to personally apply the techniques learned from the book to second-guess the author. Only on flip pages are the actual trade results shown, annotated with ruminations on what, if anything, should have been done differently. Examples of both successful and unsuccessful trades are given. Approximately half of the book explains technical analysis, and the other half explains basic trading techniques such as money management, system testing, and the psychological (emotional) pitfalls to avoid. In my humble opinion, no one should trade until understanding the principles presented here. My one criticism is that the book would be easier to follow if the charts were on the same page as their related commentary, but it is only fair to mention that most technical analysis books suffer the same shortcoming. Overall it does a decent job presenting crucially important information for beginners.

Summary: Great addition to "Getting started in Futures"
Review: This book is true to its title. For any one who is is new to self directed investing, this book is a must. I found the book easy to read, with lots of examples and charts. I read the book twice in the span of a year, and continually reference back to it. The price of the book is low, but don't let that be an indicator of the quality. There is no humour in this book. It is a student text and contains the essential ingredients as a primer for more advanced books on investing.

Summary: Great Primer
Review: This is the kind of book that you should keep as a constant reference. With many trading computer programs that will do all of your technical analysis for you. It is good to know the why and wherefores behind the concepts that you are using. This is the Sixth book that I have read by Schwager and I am thoroughly impressed. Many of his books tend to be steeped in high level mathematics and difficult to grasp exactly what point he is trying to make. In this book, there was no such problem. The only part he leaves out is that the Technical Analysis is nothing without discipline. His book ... will give you a well rounded trading experience. I own this book as a reference and so should you.

Summary: A MUST READ SERIES FOR WHOEVER WANTS TOTRADE IN FUTURES
Review: This Series "Schwager on Futures" is the biggest work has ever been written on futures trading. As a Futures Trader I advise everybody to read these books before to starts any real trading in Futures, that if not taken in the proper way can be very painfull. As a Member of IFTA(International federation Of Tecnical Analisys)I suggest you to read it joint with John Murphy's "Technical Analisys f Futures Markets" and "Intermarket Technical Analisys" this will give you a integral knowledge of Futures Environment that is what you need on your Trading philosophy. I always let these books on my desk because I need them so many times during my trading day. THEY ARE A REAL REFERENCE. The good thing of this series is that you can test your comprension by the various study guides. Reading the book about "Managed Trading" You can even get able to judge the returns of the various CTA and decide when it is better to invest in them and to whom give your money.Probably you are not be interested in the Fundamental analisys book but remember, especially in the commodities markets, EVEN IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRADE TECHNICALLY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND FUNDAMENTAL ANALISYS!!! Thank you very much to have spent all this time for read me. If you still have some doubts do not hesitate to contact me at my E-mail. Buon Trading!!!

Summary: A REASONABLY GOOD BOOK ON TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
Review: Tis book is very complete in all the basic technical patterns such as flags, channels, head & shoulders etc. and would be a complete technical analysis course for beginners, but may prove less useful to professional traders. The second section is helpful in that you read about a trade based on a particular pattern and then turn the page to see the chart move out in time and how the trade would have worked. Its a sort of real-time trading practice. As we have often heard, these basic patterns are about 50-50 accurate and Jack seems to imply that when he said on p. 142 that "Trading success is not dependent upon been right more than half the time, or for that matter even half the time."

I think that any furthur edition of the book should get some charts that have dates below. These charts show the month and a few spikes in between to suppose dates but they are difficult to co-relate with a calendar and so it makes it a bit difficult to know on what day of the week or if it is a weekend that a particular move took place.

In Chapter 18 it states: "The systems detailed in this chapter are throwaway systems, that is systems far inferior..... to other systems I have developed to bother using.". Maybe, the ad. for this book should tell us that purchasers will get rejected systems which the author does not use! In this way one can make a more precise purchase decision. The final chapter of this book which contain 82 trading rules is to me the best part of it all. This chapter are excerpts from his market wizard books.

I must admit that I had read Jack's "Market Wizards" and his "New Market Wizards" books and I had been very pleased with them. I had written excellent reviews for both these books and would always recommend them to anyone. However, I cannot be too sure to say the same for this one on technical analysis.
