Summary: Required reading for the IS Auditor
Review: If you have any basic questions regarding IS Auditing, this book has the answers. Provides a lot of information, yet is presented in a way that is relatively easy to understand. This book is definitely not going back to the bookstore at the end of the quarter. Provides information or refreshes forgotten information for IS Auditors of all levels. Appendixes provide even more available resources of information, a great tool by itself.

There are full of important concepts and examples for IT Auditing. To be a IT auditor, this book is just like a Bible. If you want to know the related information about IT, just get this book.

Review: PROS: Information Technology Control and Audit is a great book. If you are interested in the profession of IT auditing, then this book is for you. This book covers everything you need to know about the field of IT auditing. Topics covered in this book include: CAATs , IT auditing standards and guidelines, audit planning, internal controls, auditing of operation systems , auditing of applications, auditing of the software development process, auditing of CIS operation and network security. In addition, This book is a very good research tool. Its appendices have lots of information about IT professional organizations. Students and IT professionals who want more detail information about a particular topic covered in this book can visit these organizations' web site for more information. To help people without technical IT skill, this book has a glossary that explains complex IT terms in plain English.

CONS: I found some minor spelling errors. Also, this book does not have any colorful charts and graphs. This makes it look really boring.

The book also covers some of the most important subjects in IT field, information security and controls. Added with cases study, sample audit programs, and information about career development in IS Auditing etc., this book is a must have for everyone who wants to delve into all aspects of IS Auditing. If you can only have one book about IS Auditing & Control in your shelf, then this should be the one.

Summary: Everything you wanted to know about IS Auditing
Review: Information Technology Control and Audit is a great book! It gives the novice auditor or student planning on becoming an auditor an excellent introduction to the IS Auditing field. Perhaps the most valuable portions of the book are the appendices, which list valuable resources for auditors; give overviews of auditing standards; and, most valuable to my mind, give samples of actual auditing cases, allowing the reader to practice their new skills.

Review: This is the first textbook I have seen and read that cover comprehensively tremendous amount of information in IT Control and Audit-related issues. It is a valuable resource for those who want to increase his or her knowledge in this emerging area, either for students in Accounting, Auditing, Computer Information Systems and Law or for IT Professionals who want to refresh his or her knowledge in this area. This book provides information ranging from A Foundation for IT Auditability and Control to Computer Information Systems in the New Millennium while at the same time doesn't forget to include the specific issues such as Legal Environment of Information Systems and Security & Privacy of Information Systems issues. In addition to that, this book provides several of Information Audit Cases. The other things that make this book even more interesting are that it provides its readers The Bibliography of Selected Publications for Information Technology Auditors and The Professional Standards that Apply to Information Technology. In short, this book is one of the most valuable IT Audit resource that I have seen and read.

Review: The Information Technology Control and Audit's book provides a step by step and an up-to-date information of information audit in today's complex and fast changing computing environment. I have gone through chapter by chapter and I found that this book is like a tour guide for the new people who is entering in IS area. It provides a thorough guidance on the audit process in an IS environment, control in system development process, application risks and control, operational controls, using tools and techniques in IT operation review, many more topics related to IS audit. In addition to the people who are already in the IS area, this book is like an audit bible where you can find all the information you need to refer to regarding an IS audit. Besides, this book also talks about the legal issues in IS auditing today and in the future and its impacts to IS auditor's role in assisting management and legal counsel. Not to forget the appendix's section, which consists of some, useful IS audit case's study, a bibliography of selected publications for information technology auditors, professional standards that apply to information technology, glossary, and a sample of audit programs. These gives us a reference where to find both standards and guidelines related to information technology established by professional organizations in addition to a better understanding of IS audit that is covered in the first several chapters. I strongly recommend this book to everyone who wants to know or need a deeper understanding of IS auditing.

Information Technology Control and Audit can bring the Information Technology professional out of you and me.
