Summary: A complete guide to nonsense
Review: If you are looking for a guide to all of the therapies that do not work and are just wasting people's time and money, here it is! Speech therapy is nothing but snake oil!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best 50$ I spent in graduate school
Review: Out of all of the books I bought during my graduate program in communication disorders, this has been the one that I have used the most. Having this book was like having all of my class notes condensed and arranged in an easily accessible form. Well worth the value!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I know the techniques work from personal experience
Review: The author of this book also happens to be my speech therapist. I suspect he's been using these treatments on me, and they've been working. To the snake oil guy: if there is any bias in this book, it is towards effectiveness. Unlike mentalistic psychology (believe me, we've had endless arguments about mentalism vs. behavioralism), Dr. Hegde tries to use the scientific method to approach any number of communicative disorders. The treatments are based in the scientific method, and are, by definition, verifiable, repeatable, and emperical. No mentalism here!

Summary: Wonderful Reference
Review: This is an excellent resource for a practicing speech-language pathologist in any setting. It quickly reminds you of all of the things you learned in graduate school, but have since forgotten. It is much easier to look up information here than to dig through all of your old textbooks and notes. I am shocked that Amazon even printed the earlier review giving this text only one star. The reviewer did not write a review of this book. He simply attacked the entire field of speech-language pathology.

Summary: Incredible informative pocketguide for SLP's!
Review: Wonderful guide and so easy to read. Very concise and easy to flip to the exact disorder you are wondering how to treat or assess! One of the best SLP books I have!
