Review: Although there are several well known books dealing with human viruses and their biology, this recently published monograph edited by Dr. Mandahar fills the need for an up to date review of plant viruses and their molecular biology. Thirteen chapters written by experts in their respective fields cover gene expression, genetic variability, viral transport and transmission, gene to gene interaction and gene silencing of RNA and DNA containing plant viruses. Addition of references and a subject index makes it easy to review the pertinent information in this 320-page monograph. Most of the articles are written by experts in their respective fields and cover the historical literature as well as the recent developments. This monograph should be an excellent source of information for researchers interested in plant viruses and their molecular biology. Dr. Mandahar has earlier published three other multiauthor books dealing with plant viruses.
