Summary: GREAT BOOK!
Review: This book was a revelation! As a struggling new Rep in Excel, I got this book into my hands about two seconds from quitting. It was really easy reading and great! All those who gave really poor reviews are known as "pukies" in the MLM industry. GET THIS BOOK!

Summary: Marketing For Excel
Review: I picked this book up (for free), hoping it was a regular business book. The kind that describes the pluses and minuses of the business. Instead, its almost entirely a marketing tract for Excel. Nowhere are some of the hard questions asked

-- How competitive are Excel's telco products compared to other Long Distance companies ?

-- How many reps earn more than $30,000 a year from Excel ?

-- What % of reps drop out ? What % of people reach the higher levels shown in the book and how much money do they make ?

-- How much time does this entire activity take for a rep ?

-- What % of Excel's revenues come from Long distance service, and what % from rep fees ?

By covering only the successes and none of the failures, the book gives a distorted version of the truth.

This book seems like a clever way to get around the FTC's regulations about network marketing (which requires more disclosure) by having a supposedly independent book.

I can only conclude that anyone who's given the book 5 stars is themselves an Excel rep in some fashion, because theres no other logical reason for praising this book. Don't even read it, let alone buy it.

Summary: Finally! An idea and opportunity that really works.
Review: As a brand new Excel rep in Canada, this book sums up a common sense opportunity about basic services that everybody uses and can profit by. This book really sums up the tip of the iceberg phenomenon which will sweep the globe thanks to Teleglobe. Now people say "This makes sense" and especially dealing with "conservative Canadians" like myself, what a refresher from what I've seen in the past. You haven't seen nothing yet!

Summary: "Like any business venture, you can make more or less."
Review: A disclaimer like that one is written for a reason. Many people bought into programs like these because they promised wealth. Excel is no different. Like Herbalife or Amway, the success of the program is reliant on the number of people in your downline using the service. If you can't form a downline or convince people to participate, you stand to make nothing. It doesn't surprise me that Excel reps would praise this book. After all, they're looking to reel in someone who believes in this.

Summary: Excel is not the leader. Reps annual renewal fees too high.
Review: Excel has a very high amount of drop outs because of the very high annual renewal rate.

There are other telecom opportunities that offer much more then Excel does. Excel gets a lot of press but the high renewal fees are rarely discussed. Past unethical practices are what keep people away from Amway. Something Excel should have learned from.

Summary: Why is there no "zero star" rating for trash like this?
Review: MLM and other Ponzi schemes like Excel will enrich a handful of people (like Excel's Troutt) at the expense of the majority of their participants. They cannot grow indefinitely, despite what their advocates claim about new markets, new products, etc... feeding the pyramid. Read "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" instead.

Summary: Truly inspiring story about a man with a dream!
Review: I have been an Excel Representative since 1996. No one recruited me with this book! I believed in this fantastic opportunity from the beginning. But how inspirational it has been to read about Kenny, where he came from and where he is going. This writing will serve to prove to any doubter that you can do anything if you work at it. And the beauty is that Excel has given everyone who has a desire to make a real difference in their lives. This book is easy reading, one that you will not want to put down!

Summary: Nothing is perfect, but this book makes Excel appear so.
Review: As an Independant Rep. I was a reader with a biased interest. Hoping to read a critical review of the company, Excel Coomunications. I was totally disappointed. This book makes Kenny Trout to be the Mesiah of the telecommunications industry. The book is nothing more than a motivational tool for future or present reps. With this in mind it does have some merit. Read it for what it really is.
