Otherwise, you will not gain much out of it... enjoy!
Rating: Summary: The Key Elements of the Master Mind Process Review: Napoleon Hill met Andrew Carnegie, and Carnegie challenged him to interview other successful business leaders to find out what had helped them. Carnegie offered no financial resources, but did help with making the introductions. Napoleon Hill was thus launched on the adventure of a lifetime that led to this book. Napoleon Hill does not lay it all out in the way that modern writers do. He wants to leave room for you to discover what he has learned for yourself. Some of the key points involve tales of overwhelming commitment to a goal. He then talks about the ways that people have reinforced these goals. The book deliberately leaves it unclear how much this goal setting and focus succeeds because of your concentration and how much because of mental powers of some undefined sort. That is beside the point, because if you do what Napoleon Hill suggests, you will have remarkable success in your life. More recent research with young people shows that those who accomplish the most in their lives are those who have written goals at a fairly young age, and continue to focus on those goals. The point: Without goals, most people wander around aimlessly and accomplish less than their full potential. This does not mean that you have to work any harder or longer to be successful (although your commitment may encourage that). It does mean that your life will be much more purposeful. I heartily subscribe to that belief. Whenever I have had firm goals, progress has been rapid. Exceed those goals, and progress stalls until new goals are set and pursued. Another reason for reading this book is because you will meet many people in your life who will have read and used this process to accomplish a great deal in their own lives. Your ability to form valuable alliances with these people will be increased by your understanding of this book. Unlike many positive thinking books, Think and Grow Rich is based on actual experiences of people whom many would like to emulate. If nothing else, you will uncover whether or not you have the dedication it takes to create astonishing wealth through concentrating your mind on your goals. If the beach sounds good to you as you think about it, this methodology is not for you. If you find that you do not understand Napoleon Hill's message, feel free to read any of his later books. He lays out the key points in great detail. From the title, you may think that this book will give you a very detailed get-rich process. It is just the opposite. You will still have a lot of work ahead of you to learn how to achieve your goals if you use the Think and Grow Rich principles, but your work will go better because it will be purposeful about something that you care passionately about.
Rating: Summary: A Classic Masterpiece Review: This has got to be the Mother of All Personal Development Books! What Hill describes, so many years ago, as the Mastermind Principle is all the rage today. Mentoring, accountability, wise counsel -- the promotion of such success principles all have their roots right here in this book. As a professional, motivational speaker I can tell you that much of what's being taught today in thousands of books and tapes is also rooted in this book. This is not an easy read. You'll have to take it in small bites. But it's the kind of book you'll want to read once each year for the rest of your life.
Rating: Summary: THE SECRETS OF SUCCESS LIES WITHIN THE THOUGHTS OF ONES MIND Review: Dale Carnegie came up with the concept: Win Friends and Influence People. Within the same orgin of the self-help movement, within the fifties, author Napolean Hill came up with his revolutionary philosophy. This book reveals the correlation between ones thoughts and ones wealth-which he attributes to ones mindset. I highly recommend you reading this book if you want to understand the connection between your bank account and the thoughts betweeen your ears.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book about achievement. Review: Just so that potential buyers know, this book won't tell you how to invest to become rich. It does however teach you something more important. It outlines an entire strategy about becoming successful. IMO this is much more important. Give a man a fish and he won't be hungry for a day, but teach him how to fish and he won't be hungry for a lifetime. The older I get the more I realize that the ability to accomplish anything is all in the mind. This is the main premise in Mr. Hills book, he asserts that if you see yourself as a successful person, in time you will become the person you see. However visualization and affirmations are not enough, you must have clearly defined goals. 'With a plan we are geniuses, without a plan idiots.' Mr. Hill gives a clear explanation of everything that is required. He begins by outlining how to change your mindset. Then he discusses the goal defining aspect and the planning aspect. By the end you are armed with tools to overcome any situation, because any problem in life whether it's financial or not can be tackled this way. I do admit that for someone who has not read a lot about the mind, 'the secret' can be a little enigmatic. You should not be worried about this however, because it jump out at you as you read the book. Whatever a man thinks himself to be; that is what he shall be.
Rating: Summary: I would rate more stars, but 5 was only option! Review: THE HOLY QURAN IS NON-COMPARABLE, SO THIS BOOK IS FAR SECOND BEST IN THE WORLD. IF I HAD TO BE A BUM SOMEWHERE, AND WOULD ONLY ALLOWED ONE POSESSION, THIS BOOK IS WHAT I'D CHOOSE TO HAVE BECAUSE THE KNOWLEDGE IT PROVIDES WILL ENABLE TO ME TO HAVE WHATEVER OTHER POSSESSIONS I DESIRE. STUPID PEOPLE WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THIS BOOK. THEY WILL NOT LIKE IT. THE ACT OF READING THIS BOOK IS NOT WHAT MAKES YOU SUCCCESSFUL, BUT THE *ACT OF APPLYING IT'S PRINCIPALS* WILL. THE SECRET IS *NOT* THAT YOU "HAVE TO BE OBSESSED WITH MONEY", BUT IT'S THAT "YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK". IF YOU THINK POVERTY, THAT IS WHAT YOU WILL BE AND IF YOU THINK WEALTHY THEN YOU WILL BE. IF YOU CALL IT "OBSESSIVE" SO BE IT! BETTER TO BE OBSESSED WITH RICHES THAN TO BE OBSESSED WITH POVERTY! ;P
Rating: Summary: A Sound Philosophy Review: This book is an absolute must for anyone interested in self improvement. It has to be read at least three times before the whole hidden message sinks in but once it does nearly everything can be seen in a different light. I was skepticle when I first got it but repeated readings have convinced me that this man knew what he was talking about. Its message which is largely subtle but very profound is as relevant today as it has ever been. It's worth hearing and knowing; that's the challenge, "knowing it!"
Rating: Summary: Remember when & why it was written Review: The book was written during the depression, a time when peoplewere in very dire straits. It was intended to help people focus onsolutions, to come up with ideas and to tap into a source of inspiration outside of themselves. This, in an effort to help get the economy moving again. The focus was on money, because that is what the people of the day needed, but the author states how the principles could be used in all aspects of one's life. The author also states that if you are not ready and\or looking to make more money or do more with your life, then the secret would evade you. I first read this book in 1980. I was confused as I did not "get" the secret, but found the book had told me something. The book has had a profound impact on my life. It helped me nuture my entrepeneurial spirit, and though I cannot say I have attained any substantial financial success to date, it has given me almost 20 years of comfort and hope, knowing that whatever I set my mind to I can accomplish. Several years ago (1988) I was looking at building a house. I hardly had 2 cents to rub together but that did not stop me in my desires to build a house for my new family. Using the principals taught in this book I managed to; secure financing, teach myself the required carpentry and electrical skills, obtain the neccessary help and constructed a house that, by all who knew the circumstances, could not be built. The house ended up being appraised at over $250,000.00, of which I had well over 50% equity. The principles in the book work, when you are ready to apply them.....read it only if you are ready and willing to work towards that which you are passionate about. It will give you the steps neccessary to succeed. I have a new passion now and have purchased the lastest edition of this book. It has proven to me that it's principals work, and as I read it again, the power of the human mind is more abundantly clear than ever before. An excellent follow up to this book is "Grow Rich With Peace of Mind" Think and GROW........ END
